My mother Judith C. Donawa was a long term care resident at Ditmas Park Rehabilitation/ Care Center from October 10, 2016 until her death on April 12, 2018. My sister Roxana Phillips from Venezuela visited our mother at the center during March 2017 to April 2017. She was extremely satisfied by the care, attention and professionalism that the entire staff displayed in regards to our mother Judith C. Donawa. These are her words written in the Spanish language:

Y esto para para el centro de rehabilitación medica Rudolpho Donawa para el nursing home en brooklyn New York, desde Venezuela,me siento bastante agradecida por la atención prestada a mi madre por un tiempo de dos años,no tengo como pagarles eso por ser tan profesionales, dedicados ala humanidad,a la gran atención misericordiosa abrazos, besos, desde Venezuela su hija Roxana phillips y gracias a la funeraria encargada del servicio tan profesional que le dieron a mi madre mil gracias.

Thank you.

We picked this rehab for my dad after touring many others. It appeared clean, but way too quiet. The residents were mostly sleeping so we thought they were being taken care of. My dad was given medicine that made him sleepy when he usually refused medicine. Every time I called with a concern it took forever for someone to pick up the phone. After they did answer they seemed disinterested in helping. I would not recommend this rehab.

Ditmas Park Nursing & Rehab is a well-maintained and inviting facility that offers rehabilitation services for both young people and adults. The building is clean, modern, and well-kept, with a particularly cozy lobby on the adult side, featuring a brand-new coffee area for visitors and residents to enjoy. However, like many healthcare facilities, Ditmas Park is facing challenges due to understaffing, which is a significant issue impacting the quality of care.

Based on my personal experience during visits to my loved one on the 6th floor, I have witnessed some concerns related to staffing and response times. For example, I observed a resident in the same room as my mother press their call bell at 12:00 PM requesting assistance to use the bathroom. Despite waiting for over 30 minutes, no one arrived to help. At 12:30 PM, I approached a nurse in the hallway, who informed me that she was not responsible for taking patients to the bathroom but assured me that someone would be sent to assist the resident by 12:45 PM. Unfortunately, the staff member who came by was handing out lunch, and when I asked her about the situation, she said she would check on the resident shortly. She did not return until 1:40 PM, over an hour and a half after the original request.

This experience highlights the critical need for Ditmas Park Nursing & Rehab to increase staffing levels and invest in training for their employees, especially in areas like customer service and work ethic. Many staff members appear to be overburdened or may have simply forgotten the importance of timely and compassionate care.

On a positive note, the therapy department at Ditmas Park is exceptional. My mother has shown consistent improvement, and I have been very impressed with the knowledge, skill, and professionalism of the therapists. They are not only competent but also respectful and kind in their approach to treatment.

It is important to note that this review is based solely on my visits to the 6th floor and may not reflect the overall experience at the entire facility. I hope that management addresses the staffing issues to improve the care and overall experience for residents and their families.

Great staff and facility. My mom thoroughly enjoyed her stay here. I was impressed with how all the nurses and aides made her feel at home and safe. This will be our first choice to come back to if the need arises.
Thank you for everything.

My mother in-law is a current resident, Dirty Bathrooms for Patients, Staff refuses to do proper personal care, Patient rooms are worse than the pictures I left. My Mother in-law is Alert but needs care. we are wondering how the state lets this type of stuff go on.

My aunt Was here and was well taken care of. Ms. Renata Siedlecka was very helpful. She stayed in touched with me the whole 3 months updating me on her progress. I was able to call her with any concerns to which she helped several times. I'm very thankful to her. The staff were very good to my aunt and appreciate each one.
