(part2)… if they perceive any “attitude” and will treat you like a delinquent patient if you offend them or have a bad day. Not to mention here you are punished for things you would not be anywhere else except for prison and they claim it’s to help you readjust to real life. If the violation is egregious enough (Smoking in non smoke areas, cussing, and god forbid having a snack in your room.) you will basically be put on “trial” in front of the whole facility every patient and staff in a room where they will point out how badly you’ve effed up and give you community service and 3-4 written essays to reflect on how you regret your “mistake” and repent for your sins. You also must introduce yourself any time you wish to speak to another person with your violation, and thank said person for “saving your life” even if you hardly know them at all. On your written “contract” it states you must self reflect and not joke nor laugh or display any attitude. And you must do this for a MINIMUM of two weeks. And if too many people (5) receive this punishment the house of 30-40 women will go on a sort of lockdown, no phones for ANYONE even if you’ve “earned” yours back, no visits with family (Even though you only get them one day a week regularly.), you are not allowed to speak to other residents outside of groups, and are given staff controlled smoke breaks. Everyone is punished severely for the petty mistakes of a few until the staff has decided they don’t deserve it anymore. I’m not a petty and aggressive addict who left here mere weeks into my stay to come back and rag on their reputation. Leaving here was the best decision I could have made for my recovery and I am now almost 5 months clean and did in fact not relapse after leaving here early like I was told I absolutely would when I wanted to leave. In conclusion this place is harsh, uncaring, shady, lazy, irresponsible, and the only things they have going for them is a nice outside area and good food.

This place is awful. 0 STARS! Do NOT go here if you have any support system you want to stay in contact with, children, or if you have a court case or have limited time to stay in a program. “Therapeutic community” is what it calls itself, it’s not therapeutic at all. Where do I even begin. They try to present themselves as a hardcore program but are too disorganized and petty to be such. Half the staff is kind, but the other half is vindictive, petty, and outright rude. Many are former addicts or alcoholics as well and must have forgotten where they came from and gotten big heads. One specific counselor is running her own program outside the guidelines of the facility, her son’s an addict I guess and she exerts the control she wishes to but cannot over her son on her clients. I was told it was possible to complete the program in 30 days by the director, this counselor told me I NEEDED to be there for at least 60 to complete. The rules were all over the place and enforced at the individual employee’s will. There is a written rulebook you receive in your first few days that they do NOT follow, but when asked what the rules are regarding specific things it’s a dismissive “Look in the packet.” For example the rulebook said you could get on the payphone to call family or friends or handle business at 4PM before dinner, in reality you had to write up a “proposal” about who want to call and why, turn it into the counselor, and they could approve or not. Mind you your counselor is only there half of the week so you can potentially only be getting 1 or 2 10 minute calls a week. (They take your phone until your counselor decides you’ve “earned” it back.) You can allegedly make a call to your children at any point if you ask a staff or get in line for the nightly calls to kids that are supposed to go out but god forbid you have a young child who doesn’t have their own phone and you have to speak to their caregiver to put them on only to be yelled at with a rude “I know that’s not your child! Hang up right now!”
They will not let you know when someone calls for you, my entire family called, my caseworker called 3 times, and the father of my child called for me and I was never told. They tell them they will let the person they are calling for know but they do not, even when it’s someone as important as your caseworker trying to contact you.
Some women were allowed in (They go through all your things at intake.) with their nail polish, certain makeup products, clothes, etc. and some weren’t. They enforce a dress code on GROWN women.. Ridiculous! There’s no men!
Back to children they make you watch other women’s kids with no staff supervision whatsoever. You must take time out of your day that’s supposed to be recovery oriented (1-2 hours) to watch another woman’s kid or kids. And I like children, but the risks posed by this system are NUMEROUS. Many women who come here have CPS cases, why on earth would you allow a person who can’t watch their own children alone to watch another person’s alone!? These women are separated from their babies, only sometimes able to call them, (If you have a child too young to speak you’re out of luck and can’t call their caregiver to ask how they are and receive updates.), and can have them visit once a week and are expected days or weeks into sobriety to be a caregiver? Like it couldn’t be extremely stressful emotionally? There are no cameras either. An almost disgusting lack of responsibility by the facility treating their patients like ignorant children and placing responsibilities on them such as a child’s welfare… To even babysit children legally you must be CPR certified. Not to mention the dynamics between women in here is like high school drama, which is to be expected, but of course there can be a few or even a lot of people you don’t even want being responsible for your kids at all!
Staff members take gripes with patients way too personally, when you come here you are at the lowest and most emotionally turbulent time of your life and they have no grace to give you… (continued)

Sad when a place that says their mission is to help people, when in actuality they lack compassion and empathy for those struggling. As someone who knows closely addiction, it’s a disease, you can’t treat people poorly just because you never suffered yourself: CELESTE. Praying for you most.

This place saved my life. Everything about it was great and I’m not just saying this, from the staff (Mr Thomas above all) the food, the meetings, the people. Rehab can be scary to those who’ve never been and this place makes you feel like family from the moment you walk in

Highly unethical! Never came across a Rehabilitation Center that claims to help rebuild families and provides recovery tools yet will give clients their personal cell phones back in 7 days! Yes folks 7 days & straight out of detox.
I currently have a relative at this facility and our family has already experienced extreme bad behavior from her just having her phone and contacting unhealthy people. Nothing changed!
Outrageous that any public entities would consider this place to be morally up standing. May I add this place encourages mothers to make no changes in their behavior to their own children. Yup if your going to allow their phones being returned you should probably make sure they have completed some classes first.
I suggest if you are a CPS worker please look for other resources besides this place. My relative was encouraged to leave her child behind with no time frame of return and is allowed to have contact with people she used with.
All in all their website is just for looks! They just want to fill those county beds. They bring in meetings just to claim the clients attend yet in reality staff needs to go to meetings as well, you folks work in the disease not recovery BIG DIFFERENCE, KNOW THE DIFFERENCE

I don’t know how to thank IRVS enough! Thank you so much to Jennifer, Alex and all the nurses there! They helped me when I thought it was impossible. Everyone was extremely helpful and patient and understanding and boy did they feed us! And not nasty food either. I would highly recommend this facility. I did detox for 7 days and although relieved I was done, I wish I could of stayed for the residential but due to other things I had to take care off I have to do out patient. They really go out of their way to assist you and show you the way. Thank you IRVS and everyone!
