It seems like the quality of the fish. Isn't up to par with the price? So I went into the pet shop again, and I bought 70 dollars worth of fish. Yeah, I know I hear what you're going to say The person that checked put me out asked, did you bring a water sample in so we can test it. I said, no, well, we can't guarantee these fish without a water sample.
That's new to me. But here's the kicker, I think we need to be testing their water because of all the dead fish that's in their tanks, the pictures that I show are dead fish in their tanks. These pictures are just some of them.

Great place! I came here because of the reviews and the fact that they’re family owned, not a corporation. Animals were clearly well taken care of, healthy, and socialized. I purchased a female black bear syrian hamster which are notoriously difficult to tame, but she was already very friendly and social. I was able to pet her right away which shows how well cared for she was. Of course the small animals are kept in smaller cages since they are for sale, but they still had hides and wheels which is very important. I don’t think petsmart even does that for their rodents. They have a proper hamster enclosure towards the front of the store where princess hot dog lives so they clearly know how to properly care for these animals. The staff was very friendly and ready to provide all the necessary information on the pet so no customer buys blind or with misinformation, something really important to me. I will definitely be regularly coming back for supplies and for pets.

(Blue marble dot male is mine) And he's very healthy and great, had him for 3 months now, their male bettas are mostly alright for bettas tho just order online, dont bother with petstore of any kind) but their female bettas (other pic shown) are just terrible, poorly bred, cull worthy bettas. They have VERY large bulging stomachs, bigger than what females should be (yes I know they are larger than males). They used to be a good store, now it's just expensive and no where near worth it. I've also had a bunch of fish die recently that I got from them, brought them in, they tested the water, it was clean all but .25 or less of ammonia (I forgot to bring in a separate wayer sample, and the drive was 30 mins). They said they couldn't refund any of the fish or give credit. Pretty shitty tbh Givin the current state of some of the fish in the store, discolored, very bad fin rot, body rot, lethargy. It's pretty bad. Employees don't seem to care, they don't care when you bring it up with them. There's no one ever in the store, was actively waiting in the store one time when another guy started talking to me about how shitty everything has gotten over the years, and honestly I agree. They also don't quarantine their fish with any medication. Do better.

Use to have a five star rating after they finally redid their fish tanks. But had to lower to a one star when an employee refused to sell me a single angelfish. I have had fish for over forty years. And this is the worse employee that I have ever dealt with. I had other items that I was going to purchase at the same time. But instead sat them down in front of her and said, well I won't be buying these either. I have contacted the headquarters and waiting for a reply from them.

Great local fish store. Knowledgeable staff to help you get started in fishkeeping. Fish and plants are much healthier than other chain pet stores. Prices on a lot of items are cheaper than online also.

I understand that ownership has changed. I've dealt with John and other various employees for 10 years or so. I understand new owners now. Over the years, I've had a handful of fish die after being acclimated to my tanks. No big deal, as it's expected. I've always been greeted with bring in a water sample and we'll see what's going on. I've always been given replacements. The service I've received up till this point has been excellent. I drove 15 miles the other day and was greeted with we will sell you a fish, but there is no guarantee until AFTER a water test. No signs as of 9-22-24. Okay. Maybe I proved as having some tank knowledge. New Sailfin owners, put up a notice!
