Note to the reader: this is my first time getting my two medium haired Norwegian forest cats groomed (they are 18 months old). There were pros and cons to the visit, and I will likely try out another service before going with Pooches again. Pros: My groomer arrived right on time and was communicative about his ETA. I also found him to be very friendly and competent. Grooming a cat takes a lot of wrangling and the firmness required was a little anxious-making for me (my babies!!), but the cats and the groomer did great. Cons: the van was not the sanitary environment I was expecting based on the description and pictures on the website. Grooming tools were clearly used (and not sterilized) on other animals before being used on my boys. The groomer did wipe down the table before starting on the boys. You’re also in a small, enclosed space with the groomer (so if you don’t like tight spaces, this is not for you, or if you’re triggered by being in a van alone with a stranger, also not for you). I don’t mind small spaces, but the van got hot and there was no A/C. In sum, if you’re looking for a “spa-like” experience, this might not be for you. But my groomer did a good job.

Derek has groomed our dog several times and it has always been a great experience. D keeps us posted about his timing and he has a sweet rapport with our dog. Easy, painless, well-done.

Our two dogs are groomed by Derek and he is amazing. The dogs look beautiful after he works on them. I would hesitate to let anyone else work on them. Derek gets five stars from us.

I've never experienced a dog groomer as bad as this one. They cut my dogs nails to the quick and did not tell me. Found out later that day when he was lying in a pool of blood. Called and texted no response. My front yard had bloody scraps in it when they left and my dog now has an unexplained rash. I've used mobile groomers before and this isn't my first dog.

I am going to go ahead and give 4 stars despite the condition of the van (although I have seen a new one on the street, so maybe that's changed!), because so few services offer unmedicated cat grooming, and the groomer did a great job with my cat who had never been groomed before. His lion cut looks great!

Came a few minutes earlier than the slotted time, groomed my older chihuahua and clipped his nails in about 40minutes and everything was super seamless! Love to support a small Black family owned business

Derek was amazing. My cat was not making it easy for him, but he stayed calm and professional the entire time. He managed to handle a rowdy cat with a lot of mats without leaving a single nick or hot spot on her! Will definitely be calling Pooches Kitties & Kisses next time my cat needs grooming.
