This is an wonderful place to see. The work they do is amazing. We went to the open house today. I was so impressed with the people and the passion they have for the animals they care for. The staff are knowledgeable without being condescending like some places I've visited. A definite must visit, if you love animals and have the time, volunteer. You won't regret it.

I found two baby birds that had fallen out of a nest. They were very very young. I did not know how to care for them. I took the baby birds here and they took them in. I have to say that everyone there was so kind and truly cared about getting both baby birds better. I’m so glad to know we have a place like this in Amarillo. A place that cares and a staff that cares. God bless you all.

I reported a duck with a fishing hook in its beak. It was stuck with only about a foot of line to spare. We called and within minutes help was on the way. I am so happy they were able to rescue the duck safely and release it back in the water.

Stephanie and her staff are wonderful people. We found a orphaned fox and weren't sure what to do with him. Stephanie reassured us he would be well cared for by her and her experienced staff. They took time out of their schedule to meet us late at night since we couldn't meet them sooner. It's a difficult job they are doing but you can tell they do it from the heart. The animals I seen were in great shape and healthy. Thanks for you kindness and care to all God's Creatures.

While I was out hiking I came across some baby birds laying on the ground. The birds nest had been blown out of the tree. I was able to rescue 2 babies that survived but they were both in bad shape. After researching, I called Wild West around 10pm, even though they were closed, Stephanie answered the phone, I explained what happened, she gave me very good instructions on how to care for the babies and told me to bring them in as soon as they opened on Sunday, I learned more about birds in that 10 minute conversation then I've ever thought I knew about them. I took them to the center at 10am the following day. They immediately rushed them to the back to care for them while I filled out the paper. I could hear them going over the care needed for these tiny birds. I felt so good leaving them at this place. You can tell these people really love what they are doing. They are a non-profit so I left a donation for them and gave them some pet food. If you ever want to give a donation or food to a good cause, keep this place in mind, they really are making a difference out there.
