We started going here after we got tired of the receptionist at Chicago Exotics shrieking her political views at us as she was offended we didn't think to wear a mask a year after the mask mandate was lifted and once when she thought that the "Support Special Olympics" shirt I was wearing was a police shirt.

Here EVERYONE is nice. EVERYONE is kind. No one has yelled at us foe anything let alone politics.

We always feel welcome here. The vet is kind. They handle our ferrets with care. They explain everything.

We felt locked in to Chicago Exotics for a couple years and now we have a vet where the receptionist doesn't yell at us over politics that are all in her head. Its nice to go to a vet that's just concerned about our ferrets and doesn't bring up anything else.

It's just nice to know we can come here, not get yelled at the moment we enter and just have a staff that focused on our critters rather than being triggered over Special Olympics t-shirts just because it had a shield on it.

I didn't think I'd ever find a vet for our ferrets that could make us feel welcomed. But they do, and it's a relief.

A few months ago, my pet passed away late at night, and I felt lost, not knowing what to do or who to call. Thankfully, Wheeling Animal Hospital was still open while every other vet in the area had closed. They guided me through the process over the phone and stayed open late (I had called about 10 minutes before they were all supposed to go home) so I could bring my beloved pet into their care. I want to extend a special thanks to Matt, who was incredibly compassionate and supportive during such a difficult time. When I returned the next day, the entire staff was just as kind and considerate. I truly appreciate the care and empathy they showed me and would recommend them to anyone nearby to consider them.

I called Wheeling Animal Hospital around 5pm yesterday because my parents dog was weak, had a large mass under her belly, and stopped eating. They not only were able to take us due to a cancellation but were so helpful. Unfortunately, we had to put our dog to sleep. She was 15 years old and wasn't going to go through surgery. The staff (esp Matt) and the doctor were very empathetic to our situation. They made saying goodbye to our sweet Aiko somewhat easier. Truly thankful for the staff and Dr. Roberts at Wheeling Animal Hospital.

Dr. Roberts is such a wonderful vet. Not an alarmist, wonderful experience and clinical skills. Also, the boarding side of the clinic is wonderful with my two dogs. They come home after boarding without smelling and so happy. Great staff - super easy to schedule.

Horrible customer service. Spent $675 and still don’t have an answer for my pet. Worst customer service and experience. Would not go back. Called multiple times for follow up from the Vet and no one returned my phone calls all day. Then accused of demanding to be seen without payment? All lies that never happened. Trust me find another vet to go to. We won’t be back. Very rude!

This is an edit to my previous review and if I could leave zero stars, I would.

This place and "Dr." Roberts are indirectly responsible for the passing of my dog Chief. We adopted Chief from this place and he was supposedly their favorite adoptable.

The beautiful boy you see in the pictures below passed 3/27/22 after visiting this place on 3/15/22, with bloating and lethargy. He was given antibiotics and that was it. We paid over $900 total with them and were given some pills. They also did not tell me what they were doing outside of blood work and x-rays or how much things would cost but they billed me for so much more and didn't explain it to me while I was there. They also charged me for things they did not administer to my dog or give me to bring home to administer to my dog.

We had zero follow up, no one checked on our dog to see if he was ok, to see if their "treatment plan" worked or had any effect. They asked us to come in for blood work after the antibiotics were done, but even if we came in for the blood work the day he finished, that was Friday 3/25. We would've gotten his blood work results after he passed.

When we went in the day after he passed, 3/28, to get his medical records for independent review "Dr." Roberts insinuated it was my fault for not bringing my dog to emergency care over the weekend when we saw he wasn't feeling well again, even though we saw lots of improvement and we followed everything they told us to do, to a tee.

We have had his records reviewed by many other techs and vets and all say the "treatment plan" provided was not what they would have done and many advised we should have been referred to a specialist.

Roberts is the owner-practioner of Higgins Animal Clinic, Arlington-Golf Animal Hospital, and Wheeling Animal Hospital.

Edited 3/30: Matt, the practice manager, and "Dr." Roberts called us this evening to try and mitigate what happened to our dog. While Matt tried his best to use his corporate voice to make things better while we explained things and how our dog passed after showing some signs of improvement, Roberts blurted out "well he got better!" And for a vet to say that about an animal that just passed shows his lack of remorse for other animals. Matt tried but failed to smooth things over, because his vet wanted to show superiority to his clients and not allow us to speak.

DO NOT GO HERE.
