The facility is beautiful, which really matters for keeping spirits up. We find the staff makes the effort to address concerns. We are grateful we landed here.after a month long stay we feel so fortunate to have had my husbands recovery here.

After my elderly mother suffered a painful hip fracture I was very anxious but the nurses and staff here are wonderful, patient and very diligent. Everything is so clean and organized and everyone I’ve come across tries very hard to keep the residents as happy and upbeat as possible. And the physical therapists and occupational therapists have been working with her for hours daily to get her back on her feet. They even have a once a week hair salon to keep your spirits up.

My father was here needed rehab after hip surgery. Other than the friendly front desk staff this place is TERRIBLE. Food is disgusting AND everyone gets the same meal. I brought him food daily. They are extremely short staffed. There is only ONE nurse per floor. And they’re all per diem and one nurse said “we are extremely short staffed”. He would ring the button for nurse and wait and wait and wait and end up having bowel movement in his pants. He was crying and humiliated. The aides are extremely LAZY.

They assured me they would take my dad to the afternoon events but they did not. He would ring button again and again and no one came. Same with the other person who shared his room. They rang buzzer and no one came until 40” later

You have to ask for everything single thing zero proactiveness. You constantly have to ask them to refill your water pitcher, get a toothbrush and toothpaste. They also only have 3” tiny plastic pill cups. I had to bring him normal glasses to drink from.

Weekends are even worse. Horrible, Horrible, Horrible

My mom stayed there for 3 weeks. The place is clean but the food is horrible. If they gave you something you do not like they will not have anything else for you. They do not have extra sandwiches or anything if you placed an order on something you do not like. Also after 6pm they do not have any water available. How can that happen? Water is a main necessity. Also the hot water and coffee is luke warm at best. Nothing is ever hot. My mom had to gather water by 6pm or she will not have water to drink later in the evening. They do not have snacks after 6pm. The facility is clean and look good but once you are admitted, they lack the basic needs. They do not have a microwave in the dining area. If you have someone bring you food and you want to heat it up you will have to wait till it is meal serving time and ask the aides to do it.

don’t go here ever. I talked with the people who are in there and they say that the rating is resultant of the work of previous management, but that everything has changed this year and it’s bad.
Everything seems normal and until you say you want to leave. I have seen enough and they had not even been able to geto my meds to me on time and I knew that with no Pain Management I would not be able to walk very much longer on my own. I had to leave immediately, already the pain was starting to affect me. I advised staff
of my intention to leave, saying only that I felt that the facility was not a match for my needs. That was a polite way of putting it. In a few hours, I was there the level of personal invasiveness was insane. It was like a prison in many ways that I won’t go into here because I only have so much space and I have to get to the most important part. That’s when the manager told me that if I was going to do leave then they could not help me get my duffel bag to the door. I I had just had a full hip replacement. I should definitely not be picking up a duffel bag and I have been delivered to them by an ambulance on a stretcher. I reminded her of that. She just shrugged “That’s the rule”. I could not believe it. Her behavior was unconscionable, but she did seem like a very limited individual who mistakenly thinks she is clever. When that didn’t stop me she deployed her next tool of intimidation. in a threatening tone, she said that I should be aware of the fact that I would not be able to get any of my meds because she had already refilled them all and that there’s no way my insurance company would pay for them twice. if there had been any doubt in my mind at all as to whether it was wise to leave this proved, I was doing exactly the right thing. This woman has not a shred of decency. The post script to this issue around the Prescriptions is that Activity had taken place in connection with my Prescriptions. I learned from my insurance company. She had literally said those things to scare me out of leaving. Wow. Did she get bonuses every time she did this? As she watched me painfully drag my suitcase by a half attached shoulder strap like a leash (since I knew picking it up be devastating to my surgical site) all the way to the far end of the floor since that’s where the elevators are located, I wondered if she’d help me seeing how bad it was getting with every step. She did not. Nor did She did not follow me into the elevator and across the lobby to ensure that I safely exited the building. I am 65 years old and in generally good health so I was able to escape, yes I’m using that word as it is fitting here. There were many older people with major health issues who are trapped . They are all smiley and cheerful, but upon closer inspection, it became clear that they are just trying to stay on the good side of their caretakers. These are people withoutnew family support And without the kind of financial resources that would allow them to be in a better facility.

My husband has made great progress with the professional West Village Rehab PT and OT staff. Nurses, aides and support staff are friendly and efficient. Facility is exceptionally clean. If you have to spend time in a rehab facility West Village is a good choice.
