I would not even give them one star, but this I had to do to be able to comment. This is an absolutely horrible facility. If you care do NOT send your loved ones here. My mother was here for rehab. She was talked down to, ignored, and berated. The frightening part is it was done in front of me. Imagine what they do when you are not there? She was not cleaned or bathed like she should have been. I had to be there in order for things to get done. The place is unsanitary and all of the equipment is outdated. After five days the final straw so to speak was an infestation of bugs coming out of the ceiling. UNC Healthcare should be ashamed for allowing people to be treated the way they are here. Overall a very dark and gloomy atmosphere and a breeding ground for germs and sickness. I have included a picture of the top notch food. Please take your loved ones out and transfer them to another facility.

Given the multiple one-star reviews for Rex Rehabilitation of Raleigh, one would think that management would do something to change. They have not. This review of Jan. 2024 if for a 92-year-old patient who was to receive PT (physical therapy) as sanctioned by her doctors. PT consisted of one hour a day. Then for 23 hours they are confined to the bed. This went on for two weeks. Shameful. There are rehab centers across the USA that offer more. I invite someone at Rex Rehab management/board of directors to check them out and see how it's done.

Food: prisoners get better food. The Rex Rehab food 'perhaps' had been microwaved an hour earlier but then served in a non-chewable, rubber-like texture ice cold. Every meal. Cold spaghetti. Cold coffee. Cold hamburger. Pizza? A waffle with 3 slices of pepperoni on top... no sauce, no cheese. Couldn't chew the waffle but it could be used effectively as a door stop. Shameful. There are hospitals across the country, Rex Rehab needs to ask them how to treat their patients to real food so that they can heal and get better.

Next: staff. Rude, acted like you were imposing on them, short with their tone, annoyed. Even with a "must ask for assistance to go to the bathroom" doctor order, the staff, especially the evening staff, would take 30 - 45 minutes to come to assist. I do believe that there are more rights for prisoners. Then, certain staff members, would play a mind game of "did you ask or direct me to help you to the bathroom?". In other words, the entitled staff lacks empathy and is concerned more with themselves then providing care to patients in pain, confused in the middle of the night and will not help until the patient bended to their dictatorial mind games. Shameful.

Temperature: freezing. The rooms are exceedingly cold and the bathrooms have no vent for heat. Imagine you are sick and can barely stand and you're freezing the whole time. The staff can't be bothered for a blanket. You only have laying in bed praying to escape.

The entire culture screams "we don't respect our fellow humankind." The temperature, the non-food, the rude and entitled staff. I invite one of management to secretly send their loved one to Rex Rehab and see how they are treated. Again, it's shameful, horrible and the patients are left to basically see if they can survive and escape. Zero stars.

If I could only use one word to describe this place, I would use the word "gross". Although the staff was very friendly, this place needs a complete makeover. The sheets on the bed were so dingy and thin and you could see it was on a piece of foam for a mattress. I was given a room with a curtain in it that had stains all over it. The Walker and the portable toilet had rust on them and they looked 40 years old. The call button to call the nurse was something out of the 50s or 60s. When I saw the room I was ready to, unfortunately I had to stay a day and a half before I could get out of there. This was an experience I'll never forget. No one should have to stay in a place like this, someone needs to update this place as soon as possible.

Absolutely horrific. UNC Rex should be ashamed that they recommend this place to their patients. Incredibly dirty with unprofessional and rude employees. This relic of a building has obviously not seen a penny of funding since the 90s and the staff could not care less about the patients in their care. Save yourself and your loved ones the grief and find a different facility. Broken furniture, malfunctioning lights and any request (even for water) is met with eye-rolls. I hate to think of what happens to patients that don’t have anyone to advocate for them if this is the care we’ve been receiving. Shameful.

This rehab in itself is not a bad place. My experience with the staff, specifically the CNAs/nurse aid especially were awful. My great grandad was admitted and it took 3 times to ask for some help to get him on the bed. Even worse, the nurse aid that came in did not want to even touch him due to contact precautions even though he had none! If they did not want to do their job, they should not be there. Most staff members I noticed were on their phones. I am truly disappointed. This facility just needs more dedicated CNAs.

I fell in January 2023 and broke my hip & shoulder. I had hip replacement and then was sent to Rex Rehab in Raleigh. I stayed for 1 month. When I first got there I was very upset and the staff was very understanding and helped me through ( Miss Jackie & Phillip ) my stay was amazing after that .. All the staff was very helpful and professional.. love the therapist they were very supportive ( I hope Katie’s knee surgery went well) I would name them but it’s way to many to name.. The food was not that great but would definitely recommend it.. Some people are giving them a bad review but just remember they have a lot more patients than YOU .. You don’t know what they are dealing with so be KIND ..

With any nursing home if you don't show up for your people they wont get the best care. I've been calling the facility since last week regarding an appointment scheduled today for my family member. I never got a call back.
