Have been coming here since they opened many many years ago. Kendra and her team always do an amazing job and they genuinely care for our pups. Winston always come back looking so handsome and his cuts are 10/10! Love that I can text a number to set up appointments too, makes it super convenient.

Our golden retriever, Wally, has been going to the Upscale Tail since he was a puppy, over 4 years now. We would make the 45 minute drive for the quality groom back when we lived in the city, and now that we’re in the suburbs we’re so happy to be closer! They do an excellent job with his trim every time and Wally gets compliments on his grooming regularly. Kendra is always so thorough and she is sure to let us know things to look out for as well (early ear infections, paws, hot spots etc.). Everyone at the Upscale Tail truly care about Wally and we love visiting every time. Highly recommend!

I recently took my dog to the Upscale Tail for a haircut and a groom. My dog Finn is generally a nervous dog when it comes to grooming, and I warned them that I have had reports about him snapping at groomers when his paws are touched or when anyone gets near his nails. From the moment when we first arrived, they did not make me feel rushed when I was talking to the groomer about what I wanted for his cut, had questions about their procedures , and let them know about his snapping. He was very scared to go with the groomer, but she was very gentle with him taking him into the store. She even called me to let me know when he would be ready, that she was running behind, and let me know how he was doing. I’m glad they called because it gave me enough time to leave in order to be there by the time he was done. It did take a little longer than 4 hours, but I would rather they give my dog breaks if he needs them. I’m paying them to do a professional job, not a quick job, and they definitely delivered on the quality.

When I picked Finn up, I was impressed by how well they paid mind to his paws and nether regions. I was also pleased with them being able to clean his tear stains on his snout to the point where I can barely see them. He was calm and happy when they walked him out to see me, which was markedly different from when I took him to another grooming place, and that put me at ease. They were unable to file down his nails like I asked, but we discussed that he was nervous and he had already been through the rest of the grooming so she didn’t want to stress him out. I was happy that they kept his stress level in mind as I want him to have a good grooming experience. Even after we got home he was calm.

Admittedly, despite all the good reviews I was a bit nervous to take him because of some of the content from the bad reviews. I want to point out that Finn has no razor burns or nicks on his skin, and he was very happy and bouncy coming out of the grooming salon, which is not his typical scrambling and almost giving off “save me!” vibes when he comes back from previous groomers.

They do have you fill out a “Matted Release” form, but this basically just says if you know your dog is matted to please inform them of any issues they might have so they can be mindful and do the best for your dog, the risks involved in trying to remove severe matting issues, what happens during the de-matting process, and that if the matting is too severe at their discretion and your dog needs a veterinarian to remove the mats that they will stop. I think this is good for the pet’s safety and I had no issues signing it.

Overall I am thrilled with his demeanor coming back to me from them, and he smells and looks the best he’s looked since we moved away from his puppy groomer into this area. On the phone and in person, they seemed thrilled to work with me and my dog, and committed to giving him the best possible grooming experience. I will definitely be back.

TLDR: I was nervous at first, my dog was nervous at first when we went for his first time here. They did a great job with his grooming, and my dog was happy and bouncy coming back from the groomer for the first time since we moved to the area and had to find a new one. He smells good and looks handsome, and I am 100% pleased.

They did an immaculate job with our dog. We drove a half hour out just to get her groomed here and we are so happy we did! The staff is really friendly. Be aware that the reception waiting area is very small and can be slightly crowded if there are more than 4 people along with their pets inside, however it still looks super nice and chic. The front sign only displayed "Pet Salon" so it may be confusing for people trying to find this place while driving. I've included a picture of the outside to show what the sign looks like for any new customers. Thank you Upscale Tail for making our pup look beautiful!

I am leaving this review again for your defensive reply to my earlier review comment. As you can see it is not true that you never trimmed Sasha! Pictures 1 and 2 shows clearly that she was trimmed and job was done perfectly. Now this time you have not fulfilled the service and left all the hair as-is. Instead of taking care of unfinished job you are asking for extra charge of trimming!! you can clearly see the difference between first two pictures and the last 3 pictures(she doesn't even look like she is groomed). Again i told the front desk person 3 times to refer to her previous style in the notes.

I had an unfortunate experience with a previous groomer. I was searching for a new groomer and came across Upscale Tail. My dog is beginning his training and testing for obedience titles so I want him to look top notch. Kendra was great! She is natural dog lover. She noticed some corrections that needed to made to his cut and he looked amazing! She also provided some tips to help with his dry coat. Just a wonderful experience

I've been a client for over 7 years and I would never take my dog, Ranger, to another groomer. He was anxious as a puppy and to this day he still isn't a fan of most people. I know he can be difficult and the entire staff is just so accommodating and kind. They always explain why he needs to be trimmed a certain way when it's different from what I request. They alert me to any new bump or issue they see. Even if it's as minor as his ear being a little red. Kendra found the tiniest little lump and knew it was different than Ranger's other bumps. Turned out she found his cancer so early that Ranger only needed surgery. I will always be thankful that she caught that tiny detail and made sure I understood she really felt urgent it needed further examination. Ranger has had a few different surgeries and I'm always grateful for how well they treat his healing skin. His hair is trimmed so nicely that it makes the slow process of hair growth easier to watch.

I can't comment on booking appointments because I schedule my appointments a year at a time. The times I've called and had to leave a message they respond within a few hours at most.

The office is alway clean and their policies and procedures are easy to access. I appreciate the clear and precise rules. Knowing they are enforced makes me feel comfortable that Ranger will be safe during his time there. I highly recommend Kendra and the Upscale Tail.

Took my sweet shelter rescue and baby Libby to Kendra for her first grooming experience. Wow I cannot say enough positive things about Kendra as a business owner. She is talented, understanding, experienced, loves and respects all animals, incredibly accommodating, and truly has a creative response to dealing with each pet and their personality. My Libby is a rescue and she has a difficult time trusting new people and other animals. She has separation anxiety and becomes very anxious when left alone or with new people. Kendra truly knew how to “tame my little beast”. I was very unsure when dropping her off but the staff were incredibly accommodating, friendly, and understanding…and the lobby was very cozy and inviting. I can’t wait to book Miss. Libby’s next appointment. And to all parents of shelter rescues this is truly the #1 groomers in the city! What a wonderful addition to Naperville Kendra and her team are!
