The staff at St James Rehab is phenomenal! Everyone from reception, dietary, recreation, SW, Case Mgmt, PT/OT, nursing, nursing assistants are caring, pleasant, professionals who take the time to listen and answer all your questions. I also have to mention an experience we will always remember. My mom had a private showing of her favorite movie in her room! It was set up beautifully giving her room the feel of a movie theater.

I wanted to give no stars but had to check one so I could leave a review. My Mother 81 stayed to gain strength in her legs for being hospitalized for ten days.
She also suffers from PD. I had been told that this was a five star facility and that she would get PT several times a day. Well the first day she was evaluated for Pt in am and then literally sat in a wheelchair from 12:00 till 7:30. Received call at 11:07 pm from Janine the RN that my Mom fell out of bed. No rail no bed alarms. An aide walked in and found her on the floor god knows how long she was there before she was found . Their remedy to the situation was placing mats on the floor in case she fell again. Appalled and just outright shocked the next morning I informed the Case Manager that I would be taking my Mom home for lack of care at their facility. I was told at first that would not really be an option due to her diagnosis and I more or less told them it was not an option. Got to rehab at 9:30 paper work was already in progress. Could not locate my Mom in her room went to Nurses station they had no clue they said maybe PT went there one PT said she was suppose to give her PT but did not because she was leaving which was even more ridiculous cause technically she was not even discharged. Finally found her in a wheelchair pushed against a wall so she would not be a fall risk which is even more funny since they had no precautions in place from her falling out of bed.
Also room was dirty pills in hallway I told the social worker she picked it up and said she spoke to the nurse and apparently when they open the pills some can fly out . I guess it’s common practice not to pick anything up. Biggest mistake entrusting this facility with my Mom. I thought I was doing the right thing but so far from it . Also administration was standoffish. Ashley director of case management and social work was brief and to the point also on the discharge papers I made my own note as to why I was taking home because of their carelessness. She warmed but it was really just to get to the front door she gave some helpful suggestions for care . Falls are taken very seriously at hospital and facilities this is a state reportable event.
No apologies were given except from the Dr who saw her. Which he stated that the system is broken. I have pictures of what the room looked like . Garbage not emptied, bathroom dirty, crumbs on floor and water running in sink. Only wish I took pics of the pill and garbage in the hallway. Staff is not good Nurses not your RN’s you meet in the hospital. Janine was nice. she did answer questions for me earlier in the day prior to my Mom’s fall. This facility is not five star . Always do your research even if people recommend something check them out and call for yourself because things are always changing. The elderly are the forgotten unfortunately.

My husband, Ronald, came to St. James Rehab & Nursing Home for rehabilitation and had a wonderful experience. He spoke highly of the staff, saying they were incredibly kind and attentive. We also have a friend, Mike, who loves this facility and comes here every year for their rehab services—he always insists on returning to St. James! I highly recommend this place for anyone in need of excellent care and rehab services. Thank you, St. James!

My mom had 2 stays at St James this past spring/summer. She actually enjoyed her stay here and a large reason for that was Lori Sorrentino. Lori's official title is Associate Director of Recreation, but she's so much more than that. What a lovely, hard-working, empathetic person! She takes care of everybody at St James. They're so lucky to have her!

So many of these reviews are true, the good ones and the bad ones. One thing I consistently found was the overall commitment by most of the non-nursing staff. Professional, compassionate, and sincere.

The nursing staff has some very good, dedicated LPN’s, RN’s, and RA’s (aids). However, they are overworked due to the other half that are just collecting a paycheck. So the good ones burn out more regularly.

I’d rather not publicly reveal the names of the ones that have issues. Some have been named or identified in other reviews. There are many good ones whose names I don’t know or remember.

Lori S. is excellent, as is Marcella, Holly, Matena, Ashley, Lou, Barbara, Jessie, Tammy, Siddiqua, Yvette, Jeremy, Dan, Roger the Sunday music volunteer, Ronald, and Valaria last but definitely not least. They all equally extended themselves above and beyond.

The activities/recreation dept does a terrific job of keeping a jam packed schedule of things to do for everyone.

For the two months my dad was there before he passed, I became friendly with many of them bc they were caring for my dad, it’s a difficult job, my dad wasn’t difficult, but what the staff has to deal with daily is, and the industry is straining for good help, so I was empathetic.

If my dad’s situation were different, if he needed to live there full time idk how I’d feel. As with so much these days, oodles of money is needed to get the very best care or close to it. As a family that wasn’t possible.

Essentially, short term may be the way to go at St. James. One last thing is for sure-their physical rehab dept is outstanding.

DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONES HERE!! this place and it’s CARELESS staff are absolutely inhumane, was only giving my loved one a shower once a week (maybe not even that) and when confronted about it used “being understaffed” as their only excuse, she winded up developing a horrible uti that started making her very lethargic, couldn’t talk properly or make any sense and was reaching out at nothing and the worst part of it is that it was only noticed by HER ROOMMATE, not the staff. another RESIDENT. and this morning when receiving news of this, it was also discovered that nobody had gotten her out of bed until the afternoon. this is completely and utterly unacceptable behavior and it only JUST brushes the top of it.
