I am sure to rehab services at this facility are wonderful. But communication with staff while trying to get my husband into their program was miserable. There were insurance issues and the very first time I called them for a status on his transfer from the hospital to the facility I spoke with someone named Donna, and was met with rudeness, a short attitude, and as if I was bothering her. Mind you, my 36 year old husband had just had a stroke - we were in the midst of the absolute worst week of our lives - I was very kind and patient - and she was just awful to me. We ended up doing his rehab outpatient but I truly believe your administration needs to be better equipped at speaking with family members who are just asking simple questions.

Excellent rehab Hospital. I came here to rehab after my back surgery. Very professional! The PT and OT sessions really got me back on my feet. I had 3 hours a day while under the care of doctors and nurses. Everyone is very nice and cared about my welfare. I saw many hospital administrators who wanted to make sure I was happy with my rehab. Social worker was awesome. I even saw the VP of rehab medicine who I felt, was genuinely concerned for my comfort. I cannot say enough good things about this Rehab facility. The whole Catholic Health group is fabulous. The employees are to be happy working here. Even the food is great. I would definitely recommend this facility.

St. Charles Rehabilitation: I Had Such A Horrible Experience in this place April 9 to April 19, 2024 on 4th floor.
PT & OT was unbearable.
I had a Spine Operation on April 3, 2024. I was recommended to St. Charles Rehabilitation by my Spine Dr. of Stonybrook Hospital.
His office said they always sent their patients to St. Charles. Never had a problem.
At first, I was doing pretty good then, all of a sudden
I could not walk, or , take care of myself, told by Dr. at St. Charles
I should leave. Did I get a bug?
Social Worker had a date of 4/19/24 for Me to Leave. Then, Social Worker said Dr would give Me 3 more days if I go home.
How? No Home Care.
If not I had to leave 4/19/24. I did appeal. Medicare Dr. Records said I
Had to leave. I walked 120 steps. Dr. at St Charles said I was able to go home.
What kind of System is this.
I was in so much pain from the Back Surgery.
I was told by Rena, PT if I did not do as She said, I would be taken back to My Room. I could not go up the stairs.
Rena PT Student I don't know his name, took both of My legs and leaned against his leg. This caused more Pain. What kind of place is this?
OT Lee went thru My black bag where My clothes were
instead of helping Me get dressed.
I said I wanted to have meds.
I did not receive scheduled meds, I received meds as necessary, with all the pain I was having.
This means catch the Nurse if You can to get meds.
When I asked the Nurse why I didn't receive meds, I was told " I have other patients." Cannot give You on time unless scheduled.
Is this what You say to Patients?
I was always cold, there was no heat.

I truly am shocked that this facility has only 3 stars! I got my mother here from Good Sam hospital. This facility's staff are AMAZING! From security at the front desk to the 4th floor nurses, nurses aids and physical and occupational therapists, we could not be happier! Even the kind ladies in the gift shop! The compassion, kindness and cleanliness of this inpatient rehab center is the best I have ever seen at any inpatient facility. After everything we went thru over the past few weeks with my mother, this is the first time I can leave her at night and feel completely confident she will not lack great care in my absence. And that means so much!

I've tried to get my Mom into this facility because I believed the boastful claims and carefully contrived statistics of patient progress on their website. Following two rough surgeries my Mom is temporarily crippled. Her surgeon and specialist all say she needs more aggressive rehab. I've had several calls to the admitting nurses, who are somewhat condescending in their explanation that my mother has not made enough progress in her current facility for them to consider her. So, they cherry pick their patients. Shame on them.

We were promised a lot by staff. Not1 promise was delivered. Very poor communication on physical therapy status . We were told we would be called every day how he was doing - it never happened . Notes on his progress was poorly updated in system. Case worker say they take care of everything and hard to contact after 1 day. Very disappointed on how the treated my 84 yr dad who just a major stroke . Find another place

Same situation with physical therapy and rehab. Once again, promised a lot of things, turned out to be a complete lie and left us hanging completely at the time of discharge with little to no explanation on home care. The social workers wiped their hands clean and said they are no longer able to help out. Don’t take anyone here.
