Dr. Lender is a great Vet but my experience here sucked.

I have come for my Mini Gold Dood. Pup, & paid more to go here expecting top notch service.

I came in w/ paperwork & detailed instructions done, shots, a specific Fecal Float Test both specified verbally and in writing, in many forms, only to receive a different test, and to have the Techs deny I ever requested one.

It's shocking to me something can be so evident in writing and so clearly explained with hard evidence on files THEY scanned in their system. (See attached file below they scanned and were directed to, stating clearly "fecal flotation test".)

I later received an email with a file that at the bottom actually included private notes of the tech, basically talking sh** about how I was upset at the fecal float test "misunderstanding", and claiming they said they do not offer it, but admitted they did note it was requested. This occurred in July and I decided to let this go, as mistakes happen and they were kind to me and my puppy, and specifically because Dr. Lender, came out personally and explained and righted everything. Which by the way, was an effort because after paying a pricey vet bill, they gate kept her information, and the tech's clearly leverage their contact with anyone of a Dr. Title which is frustrating because they often don't know anything.

The cost of shots? Hold. The reason you didn't get a fecal float test? Hold.

Goes on and on, and when you finally get an email with a quote of pricing, it's for different service than discussed.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Today I called to schedule an appointment, and need shots done for my puppy, I gave her a very specific list of shots from my breeder, and the quote she gave was for different shots, not the shots I asked for and that we agreed to over the phone.

Additionally, I was going to come in for a 6:10 today to do these shots, as I said "6:10 is rough, but I can make that work sure. I just want to know what the cost of the shots is, can you send me an invoice ahead of time?"

The girl over the phone, interpreted that as, I might come in, but sent me the invoice after 10 minutes of a hold, and another 10 after the call ended. However during her attainment of pricing for THE INCORRECT SHOTS different than what we specifically said over the phone, someone else took the 6:10PM appointment we initially mentioned over the phone. (see below)

The best part is! If you want to switch Vets, most require a "check" to register your pet into the system, which at ProvidenceVet was them petting my gorg. puppy, and instead of actually looking at him, they mostly just wanted to pet him & judge that I paid for a hypo allergenic dog instead of adopt, and they were so focused on the invoice for my pup in July that is probably why they missed my repeated request for a FECAL FLOAT TEST. (See attached invoice for just the "exam" - $95 for them to pet my pup and call it an exam, didn't once poke their finger in his ear, were too busy blushing at his appearance.)

Attached to this review, is what shots I asked for pricing for, I specifically asked for 12 + 14 weeks shots, and gave a list of the shots I asked for by name, and received the following "quote" in return. YOU decide if the quote they sent makes sense compared to what I requested.

Dr. Lender has great communication and was sincere, but her techs don't know answers to a variety of q's and won't simply say they need to ask, but instead get defensive and annoyed if you want to know anything. My first experience here was horrendous and overpriced, and I decided to "let it go" but after the call today, I regret ever stepping foot into this place. Oh and if you do make the mistake of coming here, don't run over one of the junkies who is day napping in a parking spot seeking a payday. My advice, stay the f*** away, there's so many cheaper options with people who will respect your business more.

I want to hear from Dr. Lender, not be gate kept from my pups health. He isn't my dog, he's family.

We love Providence! I've been a cat parent going on 20 years, and Providence has provided outstanding and compassionate care for both of my cats, including some very sensitive and thoughtful end-of-life care for our older cat who passed away. We just recently boarded our baby girl Sandwiches for 14 days while we were in Kauai, and she came back to us happy, healthy, and quite spoiled from all of the attention she received. I cannot recommend both locations highly enough. Amazing staff, quality care, and reasonable prices. 10/10 on all fronts.

I’ve been here twice and I’ve had great experiences both times. The vets do a thorough job of checking out my animal, take time to listen to what I say, and don’t rush through anything. I leave here, confident that my pet was examined thoroughly and with clear advice from the vets, no uncertainty about what I was actually told or what happens next.

Penny nickel and dime every customer, should be their motto. Secret fees, “exam fees” you didn’t ask for. Came in for routine vaccines and forced a $100 exam on me. I’ve been a customer here for nearly 6 years and they’ve lost me and my pets as customers today. The lack of empathy and compassion for their clients going thru financial hardship is appalling. When asking for a payment plan or other options for the hidden fees today, I was told “ I could try a shelter or clinic for handouts”. DISGRACE. Peaches will never be back. I am owed an apology.

Doctors are great and front desk staff is especially amazing, friendly and good at their jobs. Atmosphere is very pleasant for a vets office. Much nicer than many doctor’s offices I’ve been in. Great place to sit alongside your pet in the exam room and give them a little love while waiting for the doc.

We’ve been trusting Providence with our pets for over 25 years and with good reason. This is the place to take your pets in Alameda. It’s the people that work there that really make it truly great.

Amazing experience. My cat was treated so well. The price was beyond reasonable. They made sure he had a room ready right away so he was away from the dogs. I can’t help that my cat is crazy, but I couldn’t have brought him to more capable and kind hands. Home and back again in 45 minutes. Couldn’t ask for more!

We just started going here with our greyhound puppy. We already love them. Stephanie and Dr Harris were absolutely lovely/attentive with Charlie. He got a cute calming pheromone bandana, they did a thorough exam, and checked everything we asked. They also acquired records from our previous vet, and printed them out for us. They're great!
