My French Bulldog had a consultation with their neurology department, I drove up from Stockton and we saw Dr. Erik Johnson who was an absolute pleasure to work with. Dr. Johnson was straightforward and knew exactly what was wrong with my puppy, I was so relieved to know it was a non threatening condition, he also provided me with additional information on French Bulldogs which I highly appreciated as I am a first time owner. The following week the staff also gave me a follow up call to see how my puppy was doing and to answer any additional questions that I may have thought of. I am so glad I chose to visit this clinic rather than another that was recommended to me because the experience was great from beginning to end. I would definitely return here if ever needed.

You never know if you will be happy with the emergency vet you pick if you have not been there before because you want to do right by your four legged friends. I think this place is amazing, the people are genuine, caring and have time to listen to your concerns. I highly recommend coming here to Pacific Vet Emergency the next time you find yourself in need. Did I mention how reasonably priced they are, that always helps. Thank you for taking such good care of us.

Dr.Erik Johnson is an outstanding and kind surgeon. He did an amazing job on my Dashounds spinal disc repair. My 4 year old CeCe can walk again. He communicated and encouraged me. The surgery was done in a timely manner. Lou the release RN was amazing. She took time explaining everything and instructing me. She was so loving and kind. Dr Johnson stopped by to personally meet me. My dog was always
with Doctors throughout his hospitalization. Todd answered the phone and directed me to the office. He stayed with me until I arrived. No one came out to help with my dog.The check in girls and tech need training.I am 75 and was scared for my Dashound. They did not help me handle my 30 pound dog and made me wait while they answered the phone. The tech accused me of being rude.I could hardly breathe and was so worried about my dog.I was trying not to cry and physically exhausted. She was no comfort and insensitive. I had to request copies of the check in forms with detailed invoice which I had to pay in full. She and the initial check in staff are the reason I did not give a 5 star rating.I am a retired teacher.

We brought our Dogo Argentino in for a broken hip, the staff was kind and understanding and very supportive. They took him in the back gave him all the attention he wanted and did a thorough check if anything else was broken or needed attention. The doctor recommended a CT scan to make sure her observation was correct and it was, he'd make a full recovery with time since he's a growing puppy and is strong. She also recommended we send out his exam to a specialist to be double sure and all the news came back positive.

Some people's reviews on here are about money and how things are expnsive, but they need to remember ownership comes with a cost.

Making sure to take care of your animals is expensive. No one is perfect and we have to go based off experience and knowledge.

I am thankful they are there to help and we're very quick and communicative on everything they saw with him, but also the costs. They did great. ?

While the doctors and nurses at Pacific Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Hospital are very professional, the reception staff and those who answer the phones are unfortunately quite the opposite. We have a dog going through an end-of-life situation, and on two occasions—one in person and the other over the phone—the front desk staff were outright rude. Even in our difficult situation, they lacked compassion when my wife called to inquire about the end-of-life process. We will never return here and are seeking a new location for our pet.

On Sunday our dog was rushed to a local ER Vet, once it became apparent they didn’t have to tools to save her we requested a transfer to Pacific. We loaded up our baby along with a nurse from the other vet and drove straight to Pacific. When taking our baby out of the car on a stretcher a female in the front ran to the back leaving the doors locked, mind you they knew we were coming, had all the paperwork need. we thought they would rush out and help us save our girl. What we experienced was far from help. A male “receptionist” was incredibly rude, did not care whether our dog lived or died he became belligerent yelling at us about an issue they experienced with a local rescue that we are affiliated with. He refused to take our dog as a patient, leaving us with minimal oxygen to get to another Vet. The lack of compassion is disturbing, and his condescending behavior is disgusting. There is no way this man should be working at a Vet hospital or anywhere for that matter. The picture attached is our baby girl on a stretcher in their lobby while they refuse to help her.

The staff at Pac Vet is amazing. We fully believe that the staff here is the only reason our sweet Lab is still alive.

Our 5 year old Lab, Jake has an intestinal blockage surgery at our primary care vet(Not Lafayette Vet or Pac Vet) We brought him home and he was only home for a few hours before we noticed he wasn't doing well again. We took him back to our primary care vet and they did some tests that determined that his intestine surgery had separated and he needed another emergency surgery. Because the surgery site was leaking internally he was getting septic. They said his best chance for survival was to take him to a board certified vet surgeon and they recommended Pac Vet. They also said his chances of survival were about 50/50. We loaded him up and rushed him to Pac Vet.

Dr. Nohava took him in and confirmed that he wasn't doing well. Dr. Luckring was called in and performed his surgery late at night. After surgery they confirmed that his intestine hadn't healed well and had in fact split open. Jake wasn't even close to out of the woods. He had to recover from surgery, fight off the infection the leaking surgery site had created and we had to cross our fingers that the intestine stayed intact and healed after the second surgery. He needed to eat to take in protein which would help him heal and getting such a sick dog to heal isn't easy. Dr. Nohava stayed by Jake's crate the entire night after his surgery monitoring him.

Throughout Jake's stay they gave us constant updates. When he first stood up which was a huge milestone his Dr. during the day shift called me and as soon as I answered she immediately yelled into the phone "Jake is up walking on his own" I could tell by the sheer excitement in her voice we had reached an important milestone and that she wasn't just his Dr, but she truly cared about Jake and his recovery. The staff left Jake 's crate open for the beginning of his stay because he needed constant care, they let him roam and be near him once he was improving, they sent me photos of him and his progress and even let me visit him in the parking lot in the middle of Covid. They treated Jake's issues aggressively and pulled out all stops to get him home to us.

I know in my heart that the love and medical care the gave Jake is the reason he's still with us. We couldn't have asked for a better team to have cared for Jake. I cannot thank Dr. Luckring, Dr. Nohava, Dr. Sia and their team of nurses enough. This emergency staff is seriously the dream team!

See Jake below, happy, healthy and in his natural habitat after the team at Pac Vet saved his life!

Please make sure you clarify with Vet what "pain meds" your Doctor will be providing! GABAPENTIN is an anticonvulsant and used for nerve pain.....! Apparently dogs are drug seeking and abusing the system. Before and after care are vastly different. Boas surgery seems painful and sadistic without proper pain meds. I drove 2 hours and stayed in a motel and paid to watch my dog suffer. Do not recommend!!
