My Brother-in Law had a diagnostic appointment at St.Francis Medical Center in the morning of Saturday (3/15/25). The staff were accommodating/helpful especially when one side of the handles/cables of the wheelchair got broken. The Amy (reception) was very helpful in offering us assistance and called the Maintenance department to fix it. We were grateful for Isaac Bushnell (Maintenance staff), he was happy to help us. Isaac has a positive attitude and good personality in dealing with the situation, he is very knowledgeable with his work. We are lucky that he knows how to fix the wheelchair. We are very thankful and grateful to all the staff of OSF St. Francis Medical Center.
Your Kindness is appreciated.

In this review, the nurses staff are awesome. This is why i'm giving it a four star. As far as the hospital itself, it needs to be revamped.I mean, there's holes in the side of the elevator walls to where you can actually see the cables and stuff. Also, if you push on the elevator wall, it actually moves the floor is buckled. I mean, this place needs some serious maintenance, it's unbelievable.I know it's an old building, but for the prices they charge you on me.Come on. Well, not all the stuff down in nicu. It's supposed to be quiet time and you got nurses, yelling and laughing just Carrie, and I am not supposed to do that the same. You know, in the hallways with the patient, don't have let people walk by yelling and talking to each other loudly, say something. But at last I honestly have to say they have taken care of my daughter during her delivery. She had to have a emergency c-section and the nurses hunt 4 and 5 are just awesome. I mean, they go above and beyond definitely pay 'em, or keep them all here they are wonderful and I'm from Rockford, I'm up from priority o. SF and Rockford yeah, we won't even go there. Most of the staff are 8 holes, you know. But fix your building come on.

It's all about the money for them . I went in for a procedure was told not to eat at12 the night before got there they screwed up the first procedure charged my ins $14000.00 put me on a no food diet for 3 days did surgery again told me I was then on a general diet gave dinner and less then a minute after I got my food took it away and said we have to go back to a no food or liquid diet until further notice and charged my ins like $80000. So I sat there for 4 days with nothing to eat . They are the worst hospital ever

I recently had a hospital stay (January22nd to January 24th), and I couldn't be more impressed with the exceptional care I received. Everyone was extremely nice, friendly, and helpful throughout my entire visit. I never had any problems getting someone when I needed assistance, and their responsiveness made me feel truly cared for. Thank you to the entire staff for making my experience so positive and stress-free!

Was in an accident as a pedestrian and had my first head injury. The emergency immediately cared for me by asking the right questions, taking ex rays, and cleaning up ans stitching up my wound as well as my other abrasions. Then they brought me up to the rooms upstairs to rest and heal.
The day I was supposed to be discharged, I told them I didn’t feel comfortable leaving the hospital because I felt like I was still healing and my face had swelled up as well. I didn’t have family in the area and I needed to make calls. On the 3rd day, the case worker asked about my family and flight home, which is in another state. I told her I need more time for discharge because I didn’t have my flight. She said she’d give me transportation to the hotel where my heavy luggage was and then to the airport to return home. She didn’t tell me when I would leave or anything. The doctor didn’t once see me that day. situation, so I don’t know if I can go today. He said I probably won’t be discharged today.
So I made calls to see what I can do for when I leave the hospital. Then around 6 nurse suddenly came to me and said I’m being discharged. I said this wasn’t ethically right, to be discharged without any plan and at night time. Then the other nurse came in and started demanding I leave and called security. I told them it’s not right that the whole team knows I don’t have family here, I don’t have a discharge plan yet and it’s cold out, it’s dark out (6pm) and I don’t have transportation to the hotel (which is where I got hit and there’s no cross walk). I told two of the nurses and two security guards that were all demanding me to leave:

“I need help and can’t just leave when I need transportation and a place to go. The hospital should not discharge anyone without a discharge plan. I have nowhere to go because I didn’t plan to leave so suddenly, the case worker didn’t come talk to me, the doctor knew my situation of not having anywhere to go, and I said it’s not legal and it’s unethical to not have a proper discharge plan for any patient. The case worker said she’d help with the ride to the hotel and airport and she didn’t. It’s late at night and cold and I have no proper discharge plan of where I can even go.”
The doctor and caseworker the day prior were literally saying my discharge would have to be in a shelter or on the streets. I couldn’t believe professionals would even say that. The nurse said the doctor that discharged me was Jennifer Greenwood. I don’t even know who that is. I’m a Christian and this is a Catholic hospital. I couldn’t believe the staff.
I asked if I could at least stay in the waiting room downstairs because I don’t know this area because I’m from another state and they said no. The security said I’m being kicked out of the entire hospital. I said you can’t just kick me out, I have my rights as a patient and he said I can. I told him my phone was dying and I didn’t know how to get to my hotel, that’s also where I got hit and it was dark and cold out. He said I could walk! I couldn’t believe it. Officer Gregory was his name.
The discharge paper work literally had nothing about wound care, check up or follow up with any recommended doctors, no medicine to the pharmacy, nothing. I took a picture of the paperwork.
I’ve never in my entire life, at any hospital just discharge me without making a plan and a discharge plan.
They left me feeling unprotected, unsafe, uncomfortable and in the dark.

I used to love ofs of their deficiency and well care when my older girls were younger for just something for the years they were younger. I think one only had to get stitches years ago. But today, it was a COMPLETELY different experience. Not only were we there for a good two hours to get my two year old an x-ray because he's a climber and came down on his leg a wrong way and injured his leg. He limps off of the one he injured. So, just making sure there wasn't a fracture of some sort. Back to two hours finally getting an x-ray. They come back and say(mind you sick infants in the waiting room we were all compacted in) that they didn't take an x-ray of his thigh. We said the whole leg to begin with! This is now going on 10:30 pm from 4:30 of us waiting. They say their going to order a new x-ray. I'm so irritated at this point. I wish I would have gotten her name but she comes in and says you guys can wait in the waiting room. Some other things about the "protocols" that they JUST implicated that day his sisters had to not be there. When mind you, there was a family of six that were in the waiting room with US but yet nothing was said! She knew how irritated we all were and made a really good point to make sure she told us these rules. I've said enough so, I can write a book about this experience but just don't feel like it because it's so freaking late. But, in my opinion, DO NOT go to their pediatric ER. Rude, disrespectful, and don't know a damn thing about time management.

I was admitted to OSF hospital on the 28th of this month for brain surgery. I have never been better taken care of than I have there. What these nurses go through willing is unbelievable. Especially the two nurses my first night there. But thank you so much to the whole staff, even the ones behind the big ones. You are all amazing angels and don't you forget it. Thank you again and much love. 💕

Update: I have just had my second brain surgery and a spinal tap right before that. Still the same great people always doing there best to help me get better and to make me as comfortable as possible while there. Thanks again!!
