We found Orcutt veterinary hospital by accident when we were looking for the emergency vet across the street. We were grateful that they could see our cat on short notice and they have now become our primary vet. They are extremely caring and take time to make sure you understand what's going on. The vet even called me on her day off to check in on my cat. By far the best veterinary practice in the area.

Making appointments is super easy with the kind front desk employees. The techs really care about their work and take interest in your pet. When the veterinarian came in, she took her time and really listened. I am glad that they were taking new clients.

We came in to get our sick dog seen. Our first impression was not good. There was only one dog in the waiting room. The plexiglass encased reception area and black-masked receptionist brought me back to 2020. What? Did they not get the memo that covid is over? The receptionist mumbled something about no same day appointments through her rhinestone studded face covering and all I heard was 930 Wednesday. For someone who works around pets and pet owners, her demeanor was sour and unwelcoming. Their prices are too high too. $92 just for an office visit. $30 higher than other places in town. Nope. . Not for our dog. Next thing you know, they'd being demanding we wear masks and get our dog vaccinated for covid. We used to bring our dachshund there. No longer a client.

I really appreciate the quality of care and the caring and considerate attitude of the staff. They have been very busy lately, but whenever I’ve had a genuine emergency they have been able to work us in quickly. They were also very accommodating with letting me book back to back appointments on very short notice when I needed to bring in an unplanned addition to our pet family along with our dog who had a previously scheduled appointment. I also really appreciate the follow up phone calls to check in that everything is going well after the prescribed course of treatment.

As usual, they took very good care of my 13 and 1/2-year-old baby. She is a westie. We love Dr. Harris! We've been seeing her now for over a year and she is wonderful! Best edition to the vet in the 13 years we've been going there. We love her

After 14 years and thousands and thousands of dollars. Let me tell you what to expect now.
You will have an appointment, lets say 10am.
You will show up to a receptionist who obviously hates her job.
You will be in a room by 10:15.
The tech will weigh and take your pets temperature.
You will then sit in the room alone with your pet crying for 20-40 minutes. (last visit I got to listen to a 15 minute conversation Julie Bosserman had with her mom about a vacation she had just taken. THE WALLS ARE THIN)
Then finally a "Dr" will come in, diagnose within 5 minutes, and then ALWAYS will try to sell you something from thier medical closet, usually food.
Then you will go back to the receptionist who will be on the phone, and will ignore you, not even make eye contact...
Eventually you will be able to pay your overpriced bill. And if you plan on using a debit or a credit card- YOU will be paying the proccessing fee to make it more convienent for them to do business.
Oh and a cool thing that has happened in the last 5 years:
Even if you take you pet here for years and years, when you have an emergency, they will tell you to go to the emergency vet.
Very strange because I know a couple times before the emergency vet was available I remember waiting more than an hour past my appointment because "an emergency came in"
At Orcutt Veterinary Hospital, you are not a customer. You are a number, they will get to you when they feel like it.
Brenda is the only one there now who isn't rude on sight, but she is hiring people who don't care about customer service in the slightest.

I've been taking my Westie there since she was She got her first shots. They have taken wonderful care of her for the last 11 and 1/2 years. In crisis and in regular checkups and her regular shots and vaccines. They send me reminders to keep me up on everything and I really appreciate that. She's had several incidents where I've needed them immediately and they've always been there. Now that she's gotten older we need them more and we've had to go to some specialists and she has sent me to the best ones on the Central Coast. They have wonderful connections of other doctors who are the best specialists in the area. Dr Brenda and her staff are excellent very friendly and take wonderful care of my Zoe.
