Where should we begin? They ushered us into an uncomfortable room to discuss financial matters and inquire about our willingness to spend. For instance, they asked about our spending limit, and we stated $1500. The nurse responded, "I don't want to deplete your funds, so let's say $1000." However, upon mentioning our intention to use Care Credit, she revised the amount to $1500. We're profoundly disappointed with this hospital's emphasis on financial gain, evident in barring pet parents from exams, providing false hope, and promoting prescription food despite knowledge of terminal conditions. Unnecessary tests are recommended solely for revenue, despite no prospects for improvement

I went here twice, one because the tip of my dogs tail got shut in the sliding door, and most recently to put down my beloved husky/malamute mix, Hachi. They were compassionate the night before we decided to put him down, and the doctor (a female, I forget her name) who put him down on Sunday morning was just so kind. Thank you for making something awful as good as it can be and for caring for our boy.

We have gone to North Georgia Veterinary Specialists 3 separate times for 3 separate pets. The staff has always been friendly, thorough and informative.

Unfortunately, this last visit, we had to make the difficult choice to put our beloved cat, Percy, down. The level of care that the staff provided throughout this dreadful experience was exceptional. The Doctor assured us that we were making the correct decision, and was there for any questions we had. A few weeks later, we received a card from the practice with handwritten notes in it from the staff offering their condolences.

This practice is a place you rarely want to go - you're likely not there for a good reason. But the care they offer throughout the difficult times is exceptional. I have no hesitation in bringing future pets to them in the case of an emergency.

Great emergency vet. Ignore the low star reviews. High stress environment when you drop your pet off there, but they have always handled me well and I'm not an easy person when it comes to my pets.

Money wise, love that they give invoices with left and right margins for procedures. Anyone that complains "they only want money", doesn't know business or services. As a logical person (that still freaks out over my pets), I love how they handle what care there will cost. Very transparent.

The technicians are always friendly and inviting when my pets have had overnight procedures. They take as many calls as I can give them and pet my little buddies for me. Can't say enough good things.

If I could give 0 stars I would. I have taken 3 animals to them in the past, so I was familiar with them when my vet recommended I take Daisy there for a recurring anal gland infection. She had been on antibiotics off and on for a couple of months, it just seemed to keep coming back. My vet then put her on 30 days straight of prednisone. In the meantime, I got an appointment at this specialist. It just felt different when I walked in the door. Like they wanted the money first before they would even take a look at her. They actually make you pay in advance for what they work up as the estimate to treat your pet.
Dr. Curcio recommended taking her anal glands out. Around $4700. I wanted to do what was best for Daisy, so I scheduled the procedure. But when he did the blood work before the surgery, her liver levels were very high, so Daisy had to go off all meds for 2 weeks to bring her levels back down.
I took her back a few weeks later, and then he did an ultrasound, because of spots on her liver. At that point, the same vet recommended taking out her gall bladder as well, said it was 60% full of sludge, could burst at any moment, and she may die. This time it would be almost $8000 to remove the anal glands and the gall bladder, even though I told him several times that the anal glands had cleared up, thanks to the 30 days of prednisone.

He only gave me a verbal on this, showed me no x rays, films from the ultrasound, nothing. I was just supposed to give him $8000, and take his word for it. I wanted to talk to my husband about this, and consult my regular vet, who had been treating Daisy for 12 years. It would be a long, hard recovery for a dog of her age.
I then asked Dr. Curcio to send her medical records, films, etc to my normal vet, which he did, but it was sent in a format that my vet couldn't even open.
So we waited. My vet wanted to look for signs of gall bladder issues- her coat changing or thinning, diarrhea, vomiting. She checked her anal glands once a month for any reacurrance. We did that for 3 months straight. No issues, blood, etc. We got a 2nd ultrasound on her gall bladder 2 months after his prognosis. Just a small amount of sludge, normal for her age, and totally treatable with MEDS. NOT SURGERY!!.
I am so glad I didn't give this vet clinic my dog or my money, and that I didn't put her through unnecessary trauma. All her tests have been coming back NORMAL FOR MONTHS.
Don't let them guilt you into what they think is best for your pet. They are all about the money now, not really caring for the animals or the debt that they put people in, when you just want to help your pet.
This place has changed so much. For the worse.

The staff was so kind and understanding when we brought our cat in, who ultimately passed away. They were so compassionate and comforting during a horrible time and even sent the most thoughtful card in the mail. I will never forget their kindness through such a hard situation.

Absolutely incredible staff. I live over a hour away and would drive back to go to them in a heart beat. Their receptionist are so sweet and professional, the nurses were amazing and Dr.Keith Curcio had the best bedside manner. My girl is fighting cancer and if you have every had a heart break with finding something out like this you know the pain. Dr.Curcio and his staff made me SO comfortable leaving her with them and kept me up to date on how she was doing while in their care. I really could go on and on about how much I love them. Seriously so grateful UGA referred me to them!!
