Wanted to express our sincere gratitude to the high quality of care my dog received from the staff at Newtown vet! We took him to the ER yesterday for a GI issue and he was triaged immediately. Dr. Godfrey explained the procedure (endoscopy) and I felt completely at ease (all things considered). The vet asst went through the bill estimate line by line and took the time to explain everything. We never once felt rushed, we only felt compassion. My dog was there for a total of 4 hrs and his scope was a success. Dr. Godfrey has excellent bedside manner - we are so thankful she treated our dog. our dog is healing nicely- great appetite, normal behavior, etc. I hope we don’t have to take him to the ER ever again, but if we do, we will absolutely be coming to Newtown vet in a heartbeat.

We brought our yellow Lab “Butters” in for an ophthalmology appointment with Dr. Greenberg. The doctor and staff were very professional and courteous. Dr. Greenberg performed the procedure on the same day as our visit. We were very pleased and grateful that we didn’t have to make another trip for this procedure due to the fact that we are about 2 hours away.

We had to take are 14 years old dog to Newtown veterinary specialists. They were amazing, helping us send our dog over the rainbow bridge. No family wants to do that, but the staff was amazing the whole time. They did paw prints of Harley that we will have forever. We thank thank everyone who works at this vet.

They gave us more precious time with our beloved dog, Nina, and helped her reach the age of 9 (going on 10!) despite a serious relapse into a lifelong condition she had struggled with since she was 2. They were candid about our options, kept finances in mind, and were compassionate throughout. Thanks to them, Nina had quality of life right up until the end. Great vets, great vet techs, and a great place. Hard working people who really love animals and give it all they've got every single day. They're also great with dogs that aren't so keen on other dogs.

Our 9 year old dog Franco was in need of having his spleen removed do to fast growing nodules on it. Franco has mast cell tumors since 2021 and our local veterinarian we use, removes the tumors as needed. We live in New York and used Guardian Hospital for chemo treatments for both our dogs, until their doctor abruptly left. A veterinarian at Hudson Highlands veterinarian hospital that did TPLO surgery on my other dog, highly recommended Newtown veterinarian for oncology. So Franco was seen by Dr. McDaniel's last August. Unfortunately we had to stop the chemo because Franco tested positive for heartworm and had to be treated. Franco had a seizure in January, so finding a surgeon that would take him on became challenging. Some veterinarians didn't have a doctor on 24/7, so if there was a problem after surgery, only a vet tech was available and the doctor from Hudson Highlands was not comfortable with that situation. Guardian veterinarian couldn't even see Franco for a consultation until November 19th! We didn't want to wait that long. So we called Newtown veterinarian and they really helped us out! Dr. Headrick was so amazing! He agreed to do the consultation and surgery on the same day! This stressful situation for us ended up being so much better than we anticipated. Dr. Headrick explained everything through email and in person. He got back to us with an estimate when he said he would and got it set up in less than a week. He did an amazing job on my dog and was so considerate for the fact that we had to drive over an hour to get there. We're so grateful to Newtown veterinarian for accommodating us. The front desk staff were so nice and helpful. The night nurse that we spoke to twice after Franco's surgery was so caring and Dr. Headrick is an amazing veterinarian and you can tell he loves what he does, and he has compassion for his patients and their families. I highly recommend Newtown Veterinarian hospital. We're so satisfied with Franco's surgery and recovery and can't thank them enough!!!

Not sure if they told you or it is only me, buuuuuut as of 6.11.24 - my dog Jericho is not just best puppy they've seen, but the best German shepherd they've seen. And he doesn't even know German or French, like the other highly trained dogs. He is just a family dog that gets lots of love and yelled at in English, when I need to get his attention.

If this review sounds overtly cheerful - it's meant to. Because not only was the staff amazing to work with and be around.... I was able to bring my best bud home, and with a clean bill of health.

Nothing sucks more than knowing your pet is suffering and you aren't personally qualified to take care of them. I don't understand how it is so easy for some people to just say goodbye in these situations. But what I do understand is that; Dr. Weisman, Dr. Zeldis, Ashley, Rachel, and other staff members provided support and comfort in an uncomfortable situation.

This is the second one of my dogs that they saved. And for all the judgy people reading reviews. No, not because I'm negligent with my pets - but because german shepherds like most dogs, like to fixate and the next thing you know your looking for the toy they just had - and then you're staring at them while they poop, hoping and praying it comes out.

Would've like to see a smaller bill, but I'll settle for bringing my best bud home.

I highly recommend Newtown Veterinary Specialists! Our dog was lethargic, vomiting, and just overall not feeling well, and we were understandably worried. From the moment we arrived, the staff greeted us with warm, friendly smiles and quickly contained and quarantined us to ensure both our dog and the other pets were as comfortable and safe as possible.

Although the wait time was a bit long, the comfort of the exam room made all the difference. The seats were so comfy, and our dog was able to sleep peacefully on the floor while we waited, which really helped ease our minds.

The lab tech who worked with us (I’m sorry I can't remember his name) was incredibly personable and empathetic toward our situation. It made a big difference having someone who genuinely cared and took the time to explain things clearly. And of course, Dr. Christin Little was exceptional. She was not only incredibly knowledgeable, but also very attentive and thorough in her examination. It was clear she had our dog’s best interests at heart, and that made us feel so much more at ease. We were able to get our dog on the correct medicines to begin his healing process. Thank you!

We also want to give a big shout-out to Jillian for her assistance. Her help was much appreciated, and it was clear that the team here truly works well together to provide the best care possible.

We’re so grateful to the entire team at Newtown Veterinary Specialists for their care, compassion, and professionalism. Thank you for helping our dog feel better and for supporting us through what was a stressful time! Highly recommend this clinic to anyone in need of emergency veterinary care!
