Dr Boin, Trisha, Amy and all of the team at Near North are absolutely wonderful! They all went above and beyond helping to prepare all of the necessary documents to bring our cat to Australia and they took amazing care of her throughout the whole process. Their service and care is top notch and their fees are very reasonable. Highly recommend!

Dr. Boin is conscientious with seasoned expertise and his staff are kind and detail oriented with clear attention to protocols. We had a recent scare with our dog and potential bladder cancer that was flagged after we took her to vist VEG on North Avenue for emergency care(urine in blood). The recommended follow-up urine test CADEF BRAF was botched by Old Town Animal Care who mishandle the sample and rendered it unreadable by the Lab; VEG stated incorrectly that they do conduct the test only to take our sample and tell us they did not have the relationship with the Lab. It was a stressful nightmare. Near North facilitated the urine test within a day(with detailed protocols for us) and we got the results within 2 days(not 2 weeks) -the follow-up ultrasound was scheduled within days and the results provided immediately after by Dr. Boin. Dr. Boin called numerous times to speak to me personally before and after the diagnosis. As a Behavioral Health Scientist, clinical professor and animal rights activists I have been alarmed at the lack of clear communication and attention to protocols we experienced elsewhere(e.g. sending us the health history of another dog with the same name; mishandling a urine sample, missing the signs of a ACL tear and taking only X-rays of hips, etc.). Animals do not speak our language and like pre-verbal children are dependent on humans. It is our responsibility to advocate for their care and safety. Dr. Boin explains in detail and compassionate candor that only comes with seasoned expertise. We are grateful for him and his staff and we know our pup is in safe hands there. I've seen dozens of vets. And I didn't know it was possible for a vet to be this uninterested in helping a dog. I feel sad for Michael and all the dogs that he sees.

We took both of our cats here because we are worried they might be sick,cats showing illness more through behavior than actual symptoms. All of our concerns were dismissed and FeelAway kept being shoved in our faces as "the best case sulution", and it was just a bit much. All to say tge vibes were bad and I didn't feel listened to.

My dog had an ear infection and I was able to make an appointment the next day. Dr Boin explained the type of infection my dog had and what the treatment options were. He treated my dog's ear with the medication approximately a week ago and my dog's ear appears to be fine. This was my first time using this vet and I have no complaints.

Dr Boin is really nice. A little overpriced but I guess that's expected living where we do. Always kind enough to answer all the questions and give me recommendations. Getting an appointment on short notice might be difficult, but if it's no emergency I highly recommend. One star less is just for the fact that it's nearly impossible to get a same day emergency appointment if your dog is sick.. my previous vet was always able to squeeze us in on the same day so it's not convenient looking for a new vet to get you in because they need all the information and you dont know what could be wrong with your baby so you don't wanna waste time

I've been taking my dog to Near North Animal Hospital for over 13 years and Dr. Boin is great! My dog is older now and has recently had a bunch of health issues...diabetes, cushings, etc. and they have been so great at helping me maneuver our new "normal." While dogs don't typically love going to the vet, my dog is comfortable enough with the staff to sleep all day there when he has tests that take awhile to be completed. It's a smaller office so you might have to wait a bit when other appointments run longer than expected (same as a normal doctor's office). I would recommend Near North Animal Hospital and Dr Boin to anyone looking for a vet to care for their pet!
