Stopping at nearby Fern Lake, part of Pine Mountain Club, we had just arrived with our terrier mix, Keiko, when she gobbled some jackass fisherman’s discarded fishing lure, including what turned out to be a very large hook that lodged at the back of her throat!
Mountain Aire Veterinary Hospital came to our rescue in every way. We called and were invited in on an emergency priority, traveling the 30 miles to their hospital where they stood ready and waiting to help. And they were great to both Keiko and us, explaining next steps and risks, and working step by step to sedate her for xrays, then interpret the results and prepare the next step.
Keiko was lucky. The hook set just below her tongue and Dr Cosko was able to remove it with heavy sedation. It’s two days later and Keiko is already back to her old (she’s nearly 13 but acts about 5) self!
While we want to throttle some careless fishermen for leaving fish-scented tackle for our curious dog to swallow, we can’t say enough good things about Mountain Aire Veterinary Hospital! Their facility had everything Keiko needed.

Too expensive and does not help much in being able to do everything possible to give a safe diagnosis, they only make you spend on too many studies to ultimately give you any medication for what you want. Which one you could find at Walmart

Vets in my area were all booked out for new patients OR we’re too expensive OR had histories of negligence/bad BBB scores. We sought this one out although it was 45+ minutes away, we take our fur babies care and treatment very seriously, especially with a rough history of aggressive vets that were incredibly greedy and lacked empathy. We were severely misquoted on the phone but when we had brought it to their attention, they took it upon themselves to make it up to us and hold a meeting in order to prevent this from happening to anyone again. They sent a lovely postcard and honored the misquote by refunding us, Dr. Cosko is lovely and very caring. She was very communicative and is a great listener. She cared about correcting the situation rather than being defensive, and that is one amazing quality to have in a vet based on my prior experience with other vets- the complete opposite. This is a lovely office that allows you to go in with your pet so you can comfort them during their fearful times, I could never step foot in another vet office that does not allow the same. Too many vets no longer allow you to go in with your pets. The employees were all kind and make an effort to chat with you rather than acting as robots behind a desk. It’s a lively place, you can see the love for animals the moment you step in. Don’t be afraid of sharing your concerns and asking many questions for the sake of your pet, they are more than happy to put you at ease. This vet office is transparent and honest, what more could you wish for?

As a result of Dr. Cosko's recommended treatment, we have noticed some very positive changes! Frankie no longer flinches when touched; she happily bounds around, wagging her whole body. She has a smiley face very frequently, and is the most comfortable and happy that she has ever been since we adopted her. She is a different dog, and Dr. Cosko's recognition of Frankie's emotional struggles has resulted in a focused treatment in that area, which has yielded a far more healthy and happy dog than if only her physical problems had been treated.

Dr. Cosko's understanding and use of a combination of conventional medications, coupled with the proper, focused probiotics, has made the biggest difference in the quality of Frankie's life, so far.

I love my dogs, and seeing results like this in both Molly's and Frankie's lives, has taught me a new concept of value delivered for the monetary expenditure paid. In this area, Mountain Aire Veterinary Hospital delivers more value for my hard-earned money than any other vet I've brought my dogs to, ever.

I like this place. All are very friendly. They made my Harley feel comfortable which made me feel at ease as well. Staff is very knowledgeable. They take great care of puppies to prevent them from having any major health issues as seniors.

Mountain Aire Veterinary Hospital has been caring for my animals since I moved to Frazier Park in 2001. They are so good that I don't think I can ever move off this mountain. They leave no stone unturned to get your pet the best care possible. Their customer service is top notch. I do not find them to be over priced for the care that your pet is getting. I come from Los Angeles. The quality of care at Mountain Aire exceeds the quality of care that I have received from very pricy vet hospitals in Los Angeles. I love the communication that Dr. C. gives to her customers. It's so good that I become annoyed when I have to use an Emergency vet when they are closed. If you truly want the best care for your pet there is no better Vet hospital. I wish Dr. C. treated people. I really do. Every doctor to should be as committed to their patients as Dr. C is. I completely trust her and if she says something needs to be done, you can rest assured it's in best interest of your pet. I'm grateful for their attention to detail. The vet techs are expertly trained and everybody there has become family to me. Thank you for bringing an excellent standard of care to this mountain!
