Okay so you have to park far away from the actual beach, but part of the fun is hauling your stuff through a lovely thicket through which they’ve built wooden walkways (probably not ADA-accessible; folks may need to check that)

My kid and I spent a lovely day there, just painting rocks and watching waves roll in

After the stairway / boardwalk restoration the climb up and down to the beach is a breeze. There are a few areas where the pooches can sneak out if they were so inclined. The beach is wonderful and the views amazing. Remember you will need a permit to park in the lot.

Cool spot to let the dogs swim. The water gets deep fast and the beach is not incredibly large. Cool boardwalk situation leading up to it. You could sit there for hours if you wanted. Some people were.

Parking is way too difficult if you don't already have a parking permit and there was no signage to indicate that the beach was closed until you actually get down onto the path. We arranged to be dropped off (because of the annoying parking) and headed down towards the beach when we saw a temporary sign saying that the path was closed with no further information. It would have been great to know that the beach was closed when we arrived so we didn't waste that time, and it would also be great to allow for non-resident parking on weekdays maybe. The website makes it seem like the park welcomes visitors, but actually visiting the park will quickly disabuse you of that notion.
