My German Shepherd, Axel, had his first appointment at Modern Animal in Palo Alto last week. The receptionist was very attentive and we were shown to the examination room quickly. Dr. Newhouse came in and got on the floor with Axel which really helped him relax. She was loving on him as she examined him so he didn’t get nervous at all. He received his necessary shots and we made a follow up appointment. I am so happy that we have this awesome Veterinary Clinic in town. 5 stars!

Dr Newhouse and Tara were the kindest, most thoughtful healthcare professionals I've ever met. I absolutely love the new clinic! its so beautiful and the app is so user friendly. Having easy access to all diagnostics, lab work, and prescription info is a game changer. I can see my pet's full medical record anytime. It's literally better than any human health care system I've used.

Unfortunately, my senior kitty passed away due to chronic illness and every Modern Animal staff I interacted with was so compassionate. They prioritized her always (quick appointments, doing procedures in-room with me, exploring all alternatives to provide the best care for her). Despite having gone to several other vets in the past, none had diagnosed or treated her illness properly or with the urgency needed. It's unfortunate we only found our way to Dr Newhouse and Modern Animal at the very end of her road. When she passed they sent the most amazing flowers to my home with a condolences card. I am so thankful for them, and will definitely use Modern Animal again if I have another pet in the future.

Brisket had his first appointment at Modern Animal yesterday and we both had a great experience.

I had been eagerly awaiting the clinic’s opening, but in the meantime had utilized the 24/7 virtual care through their app. When I was having trouble getting a hold of our previous vet, it was so helpful to be able to send pics of his torn paw pads through their app and receive the timely advice we needed.

For our in-person (in-dog) appointment yesterday, we were greeted in the beautiful lobby and offered drinks while we waited (water for pups, La Croix, cold brew, and water for people).

Dr. Newhouse came into our exam room and just focused on keeping Brisket calm and making sure this was a safe space for him. We all sat on the floor and Brisket had a lick mat of cheese while we discussed his history and a few things I wanted to bring up.

This appointment was primarily to establish care, and since Brisket was pretty anxious we’re going to come back another day to get a vaccine he’s due for. Dr. Newhouse even sent us home with an otoscope tip so that we can get him comfortable around it and he won’t be scared if she needs to look in his ears. I had never even considered this being an option, so the fact that Dr. Newhouse suggested this shows how much she cares for her patients’ well being.

On our way out, Brisket was given a gift bag with his name hand written on it with a new toy inside. To say he was thrilled was an understatement, and he played with his new bone in the clinic’s lobby the whole time we waited to pick up his prescription.

A quick tip for future patients is that the parking area is quite small and shared with the Walgreens pharmacy next door, so do give yourself an extra few minutes in case you need to circle back to grab street parking.

All in all we are very pleased to welcome Modern Animal to the neighborhood and happy to be patients there!

Lovely experience for humans and pets!

This a wonderfully designed clinic with the comfort of both animals and humans in mind. The app used for scheduling is intuitive and easy, and the facility is clean, relaxing, and modern.

Everyone was very warm, kind, considerate, and knowledgeable. The vet and assistants ensured my kitty was comfortable and also were considerate in asking me if I was comfortable to be in the room during blood withdrawal.

Everyone was upfront about costs and explained needed procedures in a clear and patient way. For the first time at a vet, I felt that pricing was appropriate and not outrageous!

I look forward to continued visits here, and have made MA my new primary vet.

Dr. Newhouse and the staff are so so so great with our fearful dog. They are super patient and spend a big amout of time (and give lots of treats) to gain her trust. My partner and I were exploring a bunch of different clinics before, to find a place that can accommodate my dog. Modern Animal is the first place my dog doesnt scratch the door begging to go out. She is properly examed for the first time in forever. She gets a prescription for an situational anxiety med that would help with future vets and firework. I would strongly recommend this place to all paw parents!

Just visited this clinic with my cat who is very sweet but fearful of new places. They got us into the room really quickly and I was in and out in 20 mins with all the invoices and medical records already in my inbox by the time I left. I was home within 40 mins from the time I left - a vet appointment has never been faster! The nurse was able to tell that my cat was very anxious right away and her and Dr Chrapko did everything to make sure he felt better. They did all the procedures in front of you instead of taking them to the back, which I've heard is good ethical practice. I've been looking for a clinic like this and this is the first time I see one actually do it. They also corrected me on something I should not be doing, which I was impressed by and appreciated! I think a good practice is really one that corrects and educates their clients 🙂
