The greater medical system isn't transparent or cost conscious for what they charge patients.

I took my daughter to the ER because she had a high fever, and wasn’t eating or drinking. The nurse brought in a nose swab to test for rsv, Covid etc and handed it to my 6 year old to do herself… Then she kept taking my daughter’s temp under her arm and saying it was 98/100. My daughter was shaking and crying because she didn’t feel good. They were discharging us and a different nurse came in and took her vitals for the last time. He took her temp 3 times, both in her ear and on her forehead. Her temp was 102.5. Then the female nurse came back (literally one minute later) and put her temp down as 100. They sent us home with her fever not responding to Tylenol and she was dehydrated. They said just come back if her fever gets worse or she needs fluids. I took her temp right when we got home and it was 103 still.

When we got home, I gave her more Tylenol and put cold wash cloths on her. She fell asleep. Fast forward a couple hours later, she wakes up screaming saying she can’t move her head. She said her head hurts. I took her back out to the ER. She still had a fever. The nurse shrugged it off and said it was probably just her having a dream. Then I hear another nurse in the hallway talking to the doctor saying I’ve “obviously never dealt with a kid with a fever before.” Then the doctor comes in and barely listens to anything I have to say. He leans back against the counter and laughs and says “well I guess she’s just sick then.” I got my daughter and we left. The nurse gave us a sarcastic sad face on our way out the door. I’ll never take my children to Memorial Hospital again or any of the doctors associated with them. Super disrespectful.

Here’s the temps they took literally within a minute of each other and lied about! They never put the higher temperatures in their system, then sent us home with a 102.5 fever on Tylenol!

My minor aged son had an ambulance trip to the ER. The nursing staff were all top tier. Very kind and attentive. They were knowledgeable and capable.
The ER doctor should not be practicing medicine. The absolute worst doctor I've ever experienced. He never even asked questions or introduced himself. He walked in and stared at the patient in silence for a long time then left. His second time to the room was opened with an insult to the patient and then him asking " why are you still here?"
(He was still there because he couldn't get a full breath and was on oxygen.)
He is currently the only ER Dr there. I'd never trust him with my health or the health of anyone I care about.

The billing office in Nebraska they use hangs up after being on hold for long time. Can never get a real person and they mess up constantly. My doctor Edward McKenney great but horrible management on billing. Years of the same problem. Do better.

Recently my husband had a kidney stone attack, and I needed to take him to an emergency room. We are so glad we chose Memorial Hospital’s ER. We had great care from the nurses, lab technicians, and doctors. Everyone treated us with respect and dignity from the time we entered the ER until we were transferred to Quincy for surgery. The whole staff worked diligently and quickly to diagnose and treat his condition. How fortunate our little county is to have such a wonderful hospital with caring professionals close to home!

Half way through my pregnancy, we switched to Memorial hospital and clinic in Carthage and it was the best decision I could’ve made! Dr. Jones took such good care of me and when it came time for my induction, the nurses made me so comfortable and supported me through the entire stay and process! They included my boyfriend/child’s father in everything, always made sure I had everything I could possibly need and took such good care of our son when we needed any help! I can’t imagine going anywhere else and I know if we ever decide to have more children, Memorial will be our first choice! I can’t recommend enough! <333
