When I called a variety of veterinarian clinics/hospitals in the Bay Area, so many of the receptionists I spoke to seemed flustered and overwhelmed on the phone. There was also a ton of background noise on their ends and that created a stressful environment even from my end of the phone. One vet in Orinda even said they wouldn't take an appointment with me because I don't live locally and I'd have to join their waitlist. Berkeley Animal Hospital provided minimal transparency on their pricing of laba / dental extractions and kept upcharging me more than what was stated from my previous visit with them. But with Lafayette Animal Hospital, I felt reassured the whole time. My first interaction with the receptionist over the phone was friendly, free of stress (and excess background noise) and they provided full transparency of the costs of their dental services. Lafayette Animal Hospital's pricing is much more reasonable compared to almost all other vet clinics in the Bay and that made it an easy choice to book with them. Lastly, 24 hours after my two cats had dental extractions, Dr. Bowers called to check on them, which is the kind of classic, feel-good customer service you rarely see nowadays.

Staff and Vet were super friendly and made my doggy feel comfortable. Doc even recommended cheaper options online. Bill was expensive but reasonable. Was able to get my dog in with a short notice. Thank u!

We’ve been coming here since 2012 and can say we’ve always been happy with their veterinary services for our cats. They’ve seen us through all the regular wellness checks/shots, a few false alarms (cats, right?), and even a tooth pull or two. We’ve seen a few vets here over the years, and each has been wonderful. Thorough in their exams, patient with skittish kitties, and excellent at explaining things until the humans understood their assignments. Our cats are now “senior”—though we can’t quite come to terms with that term—yet their continued health and happiness are all we need as proof to know that we should keep coming here. If Halloween and Tinsel could concur here, I think they would.

As always supportive and professional staff. Wellness visit with vaccinations and sent info on new partner to get heartworm etc for our doggy! Lyric was checked for lump on side of rib cage and doctor did needle check and all is well. Just small fatty tissue to keep an eye on. All treated lyric perfectly. Like new doctor. She was warm and supportive

The staff at Lafayette Animal Hospital are the best! My dog Hershey got diagnosed with Addison's disease at one year old, requiring monthly injections. He goes in every month tail wagging and welcomed with mountains of love for the folks who helped him feel better. Will forever be grateful for the care and dedication we receive from this team.

I will never use this hospital again. Dr. Byron Bowers is a nightmare and very unprofessional.They gave me this shampoo and lied by stating it is medicated and only available at their location. I checked Chewy and found the same exact shampoo for half the price. When I confronted Dr. Bowers he literally raised his voice at me. Please do not believe the 5 star reviews and go elsewhere. This place does not care about your animals and only cares about hiking up the bill and ordering tests that are not needed. The technical Katsuya was too rough with my pet and Mindy and Kym are just plain rude. Mindy would get very agitated if you asked her to explain the dosages and she just not nice. The Pennie/Sam/Katrina front desk made me wait 20 minutes before allowing me to check in because they were having a personal conversation. When my pet made on the floor Sam muttered something and when I offered two clean up Katrina would get upset. Please remember what pet parents pay in veterinarian bills pays your paycheck. Luckily Dr. Byron Bowers looks the other way when his staff is unprofessional but the decline in matriculation is a reflection of the poor customer service.

This Veterinary practice is wonderful. Great vets, amazing techs, delightful front office staff. Our dog LOVES going there. Here's a picture of him after a great visit, blood draw, and a vaccination! Yep. He loves them!
