I no longer live in the area of this veterinary clinic and it is truly missed. The first ten years of my little dog’s life, she had Dr. Nell Tillis as her veterinarian. Dr. Tillis is a natural with animals and does whatever she can to make the pets, and the pet’s people, as comfortable as possible, about the treatment.

Anytime there was a concern or question, Dr. Tillis made herself available to answer those questions and counsel us regarding our dog’s treatment. It’s not a case of, you never know what you’ve got till it’s gone. We knew what we had then and while Penske’s new vet is competent, it’s no Ivy Hill. Quite honestly, if it wasn’t for the fact that a 2.5 hour drive, each way, would be so hard on the little girl dog, I would still take her to see Dr. Nell.

As to the rest of the Ivy Hill staff, they became like family. Dr. Adams was helpful when Dr. Tillis was out of town. The front office and the technicians knew Penske by sight and made unpleasant medical procedures as comfortable as possible. Thank you Ivy Hill.

I brought my girlfriend’s dog in yesterday morning and really just had a phenomenal experience with each of the staff members I interacted with. From Karen, the receptionist, to Dr. Adams, and the other staff members who I interacted with and didn’t get the names of, everybody was so accommodating and helpful towards me.

Dr. Adams explained everything she told me regarding Honey, the dog, multiple times so that I could relay the information back to my girlfriend while she was at work. Dr. Adams also offered to write up a detailed email breaking down the whole visit to send to her. Karen was very helpful to me as well, offering cleaning supplies to bring out to my car after Homey had an unfortunate accident on the way over. The vet tech was also very kind, although I never got her name.

The staff was also very understanding of our budget, and did everything in their power to limit the amount of money we spent on this visit, which is much appreciated! Thank you to everybody at Ivy Hill Animal Hospital for your amazing work and customer service yesterday!

I have one concern: Ivy Hill Animal Hospital does not seem to want to take dogs with special needs, larger breeds, or ones that are lab/boxer/pit mix.

On my first visit there years ago, I was working for a company that delivers to their place. Back then, they were hesitant to accept my dog, but (I believe) that because I saw them most days for business, they allowed it.

I haven’t been back to the office in a few years and have since loss rapport with them. I was told today (April 2024) that since my dog requires sedatives prior to his annual shots (just like he did on my last visit there), and because they “haven’t seen him,” they will not allow him to ever be seen at the office. I asked, “Is this true even if he was a patient a few years ago (because he was seen there before)” The reply was, “yes.” After, the receptionist quickly got me off the phone by referring me to “Urgent Vet.” When asking for their phone number, I was told, “You can find that on your own at their website.”

In summary, Ivy Hill Animal Hospital has a clean location, and when they know you, the staff seem kind. But any veterinary clinic that is unwilling to work with a particular dog breed or dogs with special needs, is not one worthy of a good review.

Exceptional care for my old guy who dislikes both doctors appointments and calming pills. Dr. Adams and Heather took their time with Jack, ensuring he was comfortable with each step of the process and ready to stop should he begin arguing with them =)

It's a very calm environment and the front desk staff is so caring as well. Highly recommend this fine place.

My experience with Ivy Hill Animal Hospital has been absolutely wonderful! They have taken such great care of my two very sick cats, everyone from the receptionists, to the techs, and all of the vets have all been extremely sweet, professional, informative, patient, and spend as much time as it takes getting information from me and discussing treatment and options with me. I feel like each and every person here genuinely cares about my babies. I can not imagine ever going anywhere else, I feel more comfortable with them treating my babies than anyone else. I highly recommend them!
I have now seen every vet there and most of the staff within the last two weeks and I have had such a great experience with all them. I am so thankful I found them, and my kitties are too.

I called Ivy Hill to try to buy some hypoallergenic treats for my dog. I had bought them there before. They said since I was not a client of theirs, they would not sell them to me. I just feel there was no Goodwill there. Very disappoint.

My husband and I fostered a stray kitten, which failed the thrive after a few weeks. The vet was able to diagnose the mystery cause and help us get her putting on weight again. I credit Ivy Hill's attention to detail with the fact kitten made it and is now doing great. I take my two non-foster pets as well and all staff has been very gentle and thorough with them. Billing is transparent and I've never felt pressured to spend on extras. Recommended.
