We were blessed to take care of Cookie (Sugar Plum) during her last few month on this Earth. Cookie was a senior dog who required daily medication for seizures. She was so sweet, calm, and loving. It was really hard to say goodbye but I took solace in knowing she was loved until the end.
All of the staff at HHS have been great, from front desk to counselors. Special thank you to Fiona and Carla.

Absolutely horrible that they adopted out a dog that had been stolen from my friend!
TO THE LADY WHO ADOPTED "RIO":
He is stolen. His family has been looking for him since August 13, which is when he was stolen as my friend was fixing his van on the side of the road at Route 53 & 75th Street in Woodridge.
He has a family who misses and loves him very much. Please do the right thing morally and ethically and return him to his family! I know he is a wonderful dog, his dad taught him to be super friendly and loving. I know you love the dog a lot already, but please, put yourself in the shoes of the family he was stolen from! His dad was devastated when he was stolen. His whole family misses and loves him and just wants him returned safely!

I adopted Pantera 2 weeks ago and he’s doing great! My other cats have adjusted to him! Great adoption experience, fast and easy! He’s very talkative! He figured out how to open the cat door and go out on the catio. Couple of my other cats only know how to come in. Real smart cat.

Does not accept abandoned animals. The staff could not recommend any place to take this abandoned bunny, too, despite having adequate facilities themselves. They would rather have an animal like this be released into the wild than receive proper care.

Used to be a great place until today when they said you need an application just to look at the cats. Seems like a bad way of giving the cats any exposure as you have to go through a longer process that includes talking to someone that works there which isnt something everyone is okay with. I have purchased a kitten from them earlier this year and the system was a lot easier to just look at them. Will not be coming back here until the application nonsense is reverted.

The Hinsdale Humane Society was terrible. I recently went there with my family. But, to our surprise, they don't let families walk around and see the animals anymore. If you want to go in, you have to fill out an adoption form. It did not give a welcoming vibe. All the staff had horrible sour puss faces. There was an unprecedented amount of gatekeeping of the animals. If they want animals to grow and develop social skills so they can actually be in shape for adoption, they should actually allow them to be around many humans. Our experience should be have a zero star rating. However, that being impossible, I regrettably give it 1 star. If you want to see animals, there is a very nice place with many cats called CatNap from the Heart that will give you an amazing experience.

This is a wonderful shelter just recently I had to give up my cats I had for ten years. Or else I would be homeless which really breaks my heart I have been crying every since. This isn’t the first time I was practically homeless trying to keep them one time it was for almost four months looking for a place because I refuse to give them up. But my daughter started a medical prep high school in which the new place is closer by. In my baby is destined to be a Obstetrician and I have to give up my precious babies but my daughter will successfully finish her school while interning at northwestern hospital as well. Thank you hinsdale shelter you all saved my babies so that I can make sure the sunshine of my eye can be okay !
