I can’t recommend this hospital enough. I’ve been to my fair share, but this is by far the best. Stephanie the lead of MRI I believe was absolutely AMAZING. She is so so sweet, knowledge, patient, and kind. And Jerri at registration is so sweet as well. The staff i’ve had the pleasure of meeting are so welcoming. The hospital is also clean which is so very important.

My wife had been admitted after a visit to the ER. The staff in the ER were amazing and fast. The staff in the in patient care were also amazing. Extremely grateful to have this facility filled with great employees so close to home. A+ to the staff working at that time.

My experience in the past has not been the best. On Jan 23, 2023 my son 29 yrs old was taken by ambulance to here and I was not happy.
I do want to say thank you to all the staff who was on shift that evening! My son was critical and when I arrived I think everyone on duty was in with him and very hard working to get him stable to air lift him to st John's. They done what was needed to keep him alive!
His injuries was so bad he did pass 9 days later. It could have ended sooner if this place had not done what was needed to advance him to a better equipped hospital.
The Dr on duty was great to let me know what I would see when I first seen him and I did need that. He explained his injuries to me away from my son and stated it would be best to not loose it when I seen him so my son would not become more stressed with me upset.
Again I say they were very professional! Gave great info as I only had about 5 min. with him before his air lift.

My husband was in PCU for almost 20 days. The care there was excellent. They explained everything that needed to be done, they had a team of doctors working to find out what was wrong with my husband and they did find out. Although it wasn’t the outcome we all wanted they did the best they could -almost every member of the staff: Physicians, RNs, CNA’s, speech therapy, diagnostic imaging, cafeteria staff, The person who put in the pic line, The discharge planner, and the cleaning staff.
Most of all the RN Rafael whose last name I do not know.
They genuinely seem to care and they seemed grieved that we did not get the outcome we had hoped for. They did the absolute best they could for someone as sick as he is.
They allowed me to sleep in his room so that I could be with him the entire time. It was difficult to work around me but they did and they explained things to me and even comforted me when I was in tears.
They were working under critical conditions because of Staff shortages and the enormous pressure of the tri-pandemic and yet they still did their best without showing their stress. Thank you so much!

On Thursday morning, Aug. 11, 2022, my Dad was brought into Hillsboro Area Hospital due to a fall and a head injury. We are from Springfield, Illinois, and I am employed at HSHS St. John's Hospital, and I was somewhat distressed and anxious about my father having to go to a different hospital. Dr. Michael D. Koeppen , MD, and the others who took care of my Dad were among the best I have seen. They were very caring, compassionate, and skilled. I appreciated them so very much. They went above and beyond to help and treat not not only my dad, but were very kind to me as well. Kindness and caring and compassion go a long way, and they demonstrated all these and more.
Thank you for making a scary, stressful experience a bit easier.
Thank you,
Jennifer Miller

unless you are literally dying, I implore you to visit the second closest hospital. I had to drive my mother to the emergency room after she had cut part of her finger off, and boy would I LOVE to hear their definition of emergency. There was no one else waiting, the parking lot was empty, and somehow we were there for an HOUR AND A HALF before the doctor came in. (Wearing his mask below his nose i might add) My mother’s blood had soaked through the towel she brought by this point. He gives her a powder for her finger to stop the bleeding (which didn’t work and he admitted to not knowing exactly how to use it.)The doctor leaves, and says he will be right back. Fast forward to an hour later, mother dearest and I literally start watching a movie on her phone because we’ve been there so long. After another hour, all we got was some gauze and a $2,500 bill in the mail, $400 of which was for “professional fees.” …what professional?

I would give this place 0 stars if possible. Went in the er this morning because I was throwing up blood. I didn’t get in until 5 we tried to leave multiple times but were told our insurance would charge us. All of the staff was rude and when I finally got back to the room they refused to give me water for my urine sample. The blanket they gave me had fecal matter stains and I didn’t even see a real doctor just a nurse.

In the past five years, that I've taken family members of mine to the hospital (or they were brought in via ambulance), the service in the emergency room has been atrocious. My grandma's most recent visit was the last straw -- ER doctor didn't do a damn thing about her stroke incident, said "there's nothing we can do." Ummm, yes, there are things you can do, but you're too lazy to do it! My issues lie exclusively on service in the ER. (No issues with the nursing staff outside of the ER, as they've always been wonderful to her. It's only because of them and their dedicated care inside the hospital as to why I did not rate this 1-star.) Next time a family member of mine has to go to the ER, I'll make sure it will never be to this hospital or Pana Community Hospital. My grandma and/or uncle will be going to HSHS St. Francis or Taylorville Memorial, both of which have far better service in the ER.
