We had an emergency with our dog Charley this past week. We called GoodVets as they are down the street from our house. They said they had an appointment within 45 minutes. Charley was pretty big and a neighbor lent us their wagon to take him there as he could not walk after sliding down on the Ice Thursday. The vet saw me and my husband ( grandparents), within 20 mins and was very kind and thorough . After 30 mins of examining Charley, she met us and compassionately explained Charley’s severe condition. She explained the options for surgery and the alternative based on the low quality of life expectancy even with surgery. She said they would take care of Charley , give him a shot for pain and keep him comfortable until our kids could get away from work and come talk to her. Later that day my daughter and son in law came down, met with her. They got to be there and say goodbye. Unfortunately they came home without Charley. It was a very sad day.
The vet took care of everything. They we kind and compassionate. Gave all alternatives and discussed options due to Charley age and the costs of back surgery and the frail life and massive care taking there would be afterwards. They did not take on any excessive expenses or suggest surgeries to make money as some vets would.
They are honest and I wanted to tell you this story to encourage anyone in the city to use this Vet .

I have a male cat 🐈‍⬛ Luna and it was his first visit to the vet and they were friendly and compassionate my Luna had ran off and came back with frost bit and they gave meds and he also got his rabies shot he was comfortable they help so much to make Luna very comfortable and affordable highly recommend thanks again for helping my Luna

So grateful for this office! My dog ate something and caused a potential blockage. I’ve never had a vet spend as much time explaining what was going on with my dog before. The vet and staff here really took their time to explain everything to me and help me decide which route to move forward with. He also took the time to explain her allergies more to me and how to treat them. I’ve never left a vet feeling like I’ve had all my questions answered till today. Actually looking forward to my next visit. Can’t recommend them enough!

Spoke with the staff about my dog with cherry eye. I know about the issue and that it needs to be treated with surgery to correct it properly. I inquired about the surgery and was told he would need an exam first. So I scheduled the exam and stated the reason for the visit was his eye issue. I’m a Paramedic and work 24 hour shifts so I sent in my gf as I figured it was clear that I wanted the surgery for my dog. The vet examining him does not even do the surgery, therefore didn’t know about it and couldn’t give information. However he was comfortable enough to sell my gf a medication with a 30 percent success rate and that will mostly have reoccurrence on the slim chance that it does work. We were told that there’s another Dr there, the “Permanent” one, who does the surgery. Common sense would dictate that we would be set up for the exam with that Dr and not buckled and dined for treatments that won’t work. When I told them via message that I do not want the treatment as it likely will not work or be the permanent solution I was told that they don’t offer refunds on medication. We were very clear on why we were going in with our dog, even as far as talking to their staff via their messaging app. We should have been paired with a Dr that can actually treat the issue. Instead of a Dr that cannot. Avoid this place. They will buckle and dime you to get more money out of you.

GoodVets Wicker Park gave me a fantastic first visit. I will be bringing my second cat for his annual when it is time- very happy to have them in the neighborhood. We found out my newly adopted kitty was having kittens!. I had lots of questions and always felt I was given a caring and educated answer- I never felt like a nuisance
