This specific location has helped me change my life! I cannot say enough wonderful things about Gateway Independence. Specifically the women's aspire unit. Keith Anthony Reap helped me with so much knowledge and many coping skills. This is my first and only time in treatment. 14 days into my 35 days I was informed my mother had cancer in both lungs, stomach and ovary. She was placed on hospice while I was at Gateway Independence. The staff here helped me through so much in a small amount of time. 4 days after leaving Gateway, my mother passed away. To this day I can reach out to the staff here and they help me in anyway they can.
I appreciate you Gateway! Give Keith a raise! ❤️

The supervisor at the Chicago location on West Taylor named Kim needs to be fired. Talk about unprofessional, lack of empathy, and hostility. I called due to a family member, that was seeking help in their Chicago facility on West Taylor, having some major condition and safety concerns and was trying to get transferred to another facility. When I spoke with Kim to help with the transfer information that I was given from another Gateway supervisor and brought up the reasons for the transfer request which was due to the sanitation concerns (boogers and feces smeared on the walls), resource concerns (the non-existent programs to teach people how to cope), and the fact that they have people getting high in the bathrooms (creating an unsafe environment), Kim decided to become very irate and stated "I'm not listening to someone from the outside regarding my facility" and hung the phone up without a resolution. In fact, she allowed him to contact another facility, but then hung the phone up once he started explaining the situation to the care representative that he was connected with. She then kicked him out of the program for going over her head to be heard and not just brushed off. Previous experiences with the gateway foundation at the Aurora location were amazingly excellent, however, this interaction with Kim and her unprofessionalism was tremendously unacceptable. As a supervisor of such facility, she is supposed to be there to help people, not dismiss people whom have been trying to gain help with the situation the entire day. I hope the foundation will look into this Chicago facility and make major changes within those walls so people can actually get the proper help in a respectable, proper, sanitary manner that any human being should receive.

What I will say is some not everyone here is mainly using this place for a shelter and not rehabilitation so it's hard to think about your sobriety while you are here so maybe limit the visits so its not so difficult to concentrate. But other than that the staff, rooms, food is great the nursing is good. I would definitely recommend someone to come here

I been here twice just completed treatment. The problem i have with this place. I feel it's overcrowded. Almost 50 guys on a unit. The other clients made this place difficult at times and nursing far as meds could be annoying at times. Outside of that I felt it was a good place feed you good and have a lot of smoke breaks if you smoke.

It brings me great sadness, to write a review on such a life impacting Foundation. I cannot blame the foundation but I can state how I feel about the employees and counselors. I had been referred to go here through the courts completed 21 out of six classes through Telehealth it has been very hard and struggling I looked to Gateway to help me but instead I was denied treatment and sent to the wolves. The day I was denied treatment they didn't even allow me to to be apart of the staffing meetings to state my case, I was about to throw my life away because I depended on Gateway. I suggest that Gateway screen their employees and give them a heart evaluation because a lot of the employees are not there to help they're just there to get paid and have no idea about helping anyone the founder and the employees are on two different wavelengths please examine these counselors before Gateway Foundation becomes a place of suicide especially the one at 3828 West Taylor they need more than just that one Telehealth counselor that they have now matter of fact she needs help. She monopolizes the group when its about us. Please don't allow her to destroy others lives just like she has mine.

In securing treatment for a close family member recently, Gateway Foundation was incredible in their knowledge and assistance with our whole family from start to finish. John went out of his way to support through every step of the process and continues to be a valuable resource during such uncertain and challenging times. He and the staff in Chicago went above and beyond to secure a bed and the much needed help that we all sought. I am incredibly grateful for their support as we all continue to cheer her on, on her journey towards a sober, happy, and healthy life!

Thank goodness for this place. It's 28 days well-spent. Their medically assisted treatment model, complete with medical doctor and psychiatric doctor, along with nurses to administer any needed medication(s), ensures that you'll be as comfortable as possible as you come off of alcohol and/or other drugs and learn about your addiction and recovery. Daily educational groups and counseling is provided to ensure you get the best infomation possible about your addiction and how to remain abstinent after treatment. Great food and coffee is provided daily, along with enough cigarette breaks to keep even the chain-smoker content. This place is all about making you as comfortable as possible as they give you the maximum education possible. Gateway gave me my life back!!
