I recently visited your facility in search of adopting a new puppy, and while we found a wonderful dog, I wanted to share some feedback about my experience with one of your staff members.

From the moment we arrived, we were excited to meet the puppies, but I must admit I was disheartened by the behavior of one of the women at the front desk. She seemed dismissive and unapproachable. I overheard a conversation where she referred to another customer, saying, "You’ve waited this long, another two days won’t kill her," when talking about a 4-year-old. This tone and language didn’t feel very welcoming.

As we submitted our application, I noticed her tone continued to be sharp and unprofessional, even using phrases like "God da&mmit" in front of potential adopters. While I understand the importance of vetting adopters and making sure families are a good fit, I also believe the process should be approached with kindness and empathy, as this is an emotional time for many people.
Additionally, during the conversation, she brought up a personal story about giving up a dog years ago due to a family separation. I understand the importance of discussing past experiences, but I felt that the way it was brought up implied judgment, especially since many pet owners who give up animals do so due to circumstances beyond their control, not out of malice.

I want to emphasize that my feedback is intended to encourage a more compassionate approach in matching families with pets. I hope that moving forward, more empathy and patience can be shown, as adopting a pet is a significant, heartfelt decision for families.

I was very hurt that they euthanized an animal that I communicated that I would pick up. Apure Staffordshire bulldog was possibly dropped off in my neighborhood and found his way to my door. He was with me for two days until I had to go out of town for work. He was experiencing separation anxiety and was upset. That led to him being picked up by animal control. I found out where he was and called EVERY DAY. I told the people if the owner wasn't found that I would be back to get him and take him home.

After daily communication, I returned to be snuggly advised that he was put down because he was aggressive. He ABSOLUTELY was not! He was being mistreated and because of his breed, they put him down. I cried for weeks.

Finally, they were investigated and fined. Our city officials should have been listening to the complaints from the community. Hopefully, the welfare of the animals will improve with new staffing in the future. The Humane Society needs to take control of it again.
