The doctors and staff are always so helpful and accommodating. We have a 10 yo senior cat and it’s nice to know that he has invested and reliable advocates in the neighborhood.

Some of the most patient employees I’ve encountered, paired with knowledgeable doctors with great bedside manner. I recommend them to anyone looking for a family vet. They don’t accept walk ins, but during the week they have been able to fit my dog in as an urgent appointment and they also have a wait list for issues that aren’t as urgent. Almost every time I’ve been on the wait list I was able to get in within a day or two of being added. I also appreciate that they are transparent and will refer me to urgent care hospital if my pup needs to be sooner than they can see him, or needs a vet that specializes in issues beyond the care of a general practice vet.

Dr. Henry is wonderful. When my precious Gilly passed away they were absolutely amazing and filled with love And compassion. He had cancer and she was completely honest with us about the issues. He loved her gentleness and we all know Gilly wasn't a vet fan. We rescued 2 kittens now and Dr.Henry and her wonderful staff are wonderful and very knowledgeable. I strongly recommend Evanston Animal Hospital! ❤❤

I have nothing but great things to say about this vet office. They are always very polite and friendly which is not something you can find easily these days. They have helped us from day one with our newly adopted fur baby! He gets so excited as soon as he catches on to where we are going. He had to have a minor surgery and they were very helpful and easy to get in contact with anytime we had any questions or concerns. So needless to say we will forever be apart of the Evanston Animal Hospital family!

Update: The practice manager called to offer condolences and collaborate on resolving the issue with paw print. They're making changes to prevent similar experiences in the future. Additionally, they're planting a tree in my pet's honor, a touching gesture. I appreciate their commitment to learning, but I'll keep my original review for others.

While the staff is generally friendly and the vets seem compassionate, my experiences have been pretty disappointing. During a dental procedure for my cat, there was a lack of clear communication regarding the need for verbal permission during anesthesia. I was taken aback when they tried to charge me for the extra anesthesia — which I wasn't adequately informed about (no mention on the consent form).

In a more recent and emotionally challenging incident involving the euthanasia of my 19-year-old cat, a paid-for commemorative paw print was promised but never received due to a processing error. This, coupled with a hefty bill, has left me at a loss.

Despite expressing my frustrations about communication gaps and errors, and having spent hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars, the overall service keeps falling short of expectations. They have been receptive to my feedback regarding suggestions for enhancing processes and communication. Despite my ongoing willingness to give them the benefit of the doubt, I find myself deflated and disappointed. While the location and history are convenient, the recurrent issues make me consider seeking veterinary care elsewhere.

Vets here are great, but front desk staff is useless. My dog is a long time patient and got nipped by another dog. I took her in first thing this morning Evanston Animal Hospital. It was a very small puncture wound that just needed to be cleaned out. They refused to see me until 6/12. I will NEVER come back here and will be finding a new vet ASAP.

Fantastic staff! Women owned! Dr. Henry is amazing! I got to know of them from fostering for the Evanston Animal Shelter, and then started taking my own pup there as well, even though I live downtown Chicago- they're worth the drive! I won't take my kids anywhere else! Extremely patient staff, very kind doctors that will do whatever it takes to help your kid to feel better!
I won't forget Dr. Henry bravely handling one of my not so friendly fosters with a lot of patience and grace! Wonderful staff all around! Thank you EAH!!

Possibly the worst veterinary service in Evanston.

Dr. Altneu sent my dog home with a cranial cruciate ligament (a torn ACL) and prescribed 2 weeks of bedrest, when the dog needed knee surgery.

For two weeks of bedrest, Altneu gave me 10 pills (days) of Vetprofen. When I asked for enough medication to cover the full 14 days and a bit more, EAH refused to provide it. When I asked to book a follow-up appointment in two weeks, they wouldn't schedule it. Soon it was bumblingly revealed: they weren't sure they would have hired an x-ray technician before the two weeks were up. As a "health" providing business, it is unethical to string clients along and disguise it as "treatment." All they had to say was "See a specialist."

I took my dog to the Veterinary Emergency Group at 755 W North Ave near Clybourn. We walked straight into their open hospital / examination space, she was diagnosed in a minute, getting x-rays within 15 mins, and home in under 3 hours. I also paid less for "emergency services" than I would have with EAH.

____________________________________________________

Re the vet's response: My dog's appointment at EAH was to check on a crimp in her tail -- nothing having to do with a knee. Yet, the dog walked out of EAH with a broken knee. A vet's job is to care for animals -- these people simply can not do that.
