This is a long overdue review of my experience with the amazing veterinary staff here. In September, my cat Luna experienced a medical emergency resulting in a need to have to make the decision to put her to sleep. She had been experiencing some health issues for a few months prior that were being managed by her regular vet when the situation turned dire one morning and a rush to the emergency vet had to be made. Our regular vet at Elmhurst Animal Care Center called ahead to let the staff here know of the situation. They welcomed my husband and our cat Luna, with open, compassionate arms. They waited until I could arrive from work in Chicago before any decisions were made. We never felt rushed or like a burden. The vet on staff that day, Dr. Heather, went over all of the information as many times as we needed to process. The tech that day, Jenny, sat with us and comforted us while we made the hardest decision we’ve ever had to make. They were compassionate and we could feel that they were loving, caring people. I think we all cried on the floor that day. The euthanasia procedure was explained clearly and Dr. Heather was kind and gentle with Luna and with us. We were allowed all the time we needed. They offered cremation and memorial packages. It’s hard to grasp after such a difficult day but it’s so appreciated. Jenny explained this all so well and she was great comfort to us during this very difficult time. An emergency euthanasia is HARD and emotional but the grace, class, care and empathy of the staff here is exactly what you need on a day like that. Thank you all, truly.

Only one star because all the doctor did well was to give my dog 2 radiographs that I was able to use with AI interpretation and I was able to save my own dog thanks to AI and the two radiographs $710 later...$700 for the radiography and $10 for the correct interpretation. Meanwhile, the doctor was saying it could be a stomach tumor or pancreatic, prepare for end of life.
Needless to say, the doctor was sketchy enough to recommend I take him and seek medical attention if he gets worse. Never again will I go there.
My dog is a 12lb chihuahua suffering to almost the fatal point of functional ileus, with an enlarged heart. Thank You AI for the correct ileus diagnosis and the correct measures to take.

Our young dog was attacked by two coyotes in the evening when all other vets were closed. We were able to take her here and be seen right away. Everything was explained thoroughly and prices were discussed before anything was done so you weren’t surprised by a huge bill. I think the pricing was fair especially in emergency situations. They were very careful with her.

24 hour emergency vets are underappreciated because they typically cost more than regular vets (as they should) and because they receive the most difficult cases (their mission). Our bichon was suddenly in distress over the weekend and EVS promptly assessed condition, recommended a course of treatment, and made us feel like family. The staff was professional, knowledgeable, and compassionate. I would recommend this vet to anyone needing emergency or after-hours care.

If I could give a 0 star I would. Had an emergency and called the number provided and was cut off by the person who answered “I’m gonna stop you right there I don’t care.” I understand this is a stressful and difficult occupation but the lack of empathy and communication is beyond disappointing for an “emergency” service. Heavily advise people to stay away and never use their services if they can’t care enough to understand your pets situation over the phone they definitely wouldn’t care if you brought them in.

To whoever owns this business or reads these reviews whoever worked your front desk on 12/12 5:30am - 6:00am CST should lose their job they obviously don’t care.

This is Cubby the cat. I got into trouble last week and stole some string from my mom while she was working on a project. I ran off with it, and when Mom caught up with me I had already eaten most of it. We came right away to EVS, and Dr. Amy saved my life. I had surgery that night and she retrieved the string out of my tummy so I wouldn't get a blockage. I came home the next morning, good as new. Thank you to Dr. Amy and the whole staff. My mom and I are very thankful and highly recommend EVS! Love and licks, Cubby

Dr. Smith and her team were awesome! Everyone was so friendly. Super professional and attentive. There was no wait and my doggie got taken care of with gentleness. Everything was explained in detail and they made sure I knew that they would be available if I had any other concerns or questions.

I brought my cat here seeking treatment for a severe heating pad burn that he sustained during a dental procedure with his primary vet. We came two nights in a row to receive wound care. Dr. Jessica Graves was a very kind, competent advocate who finally got my cat what he needed. Dr. Amy Smith was very sweet and compassionate. No one has fun at the vet ER but we were treated very well here. Most importantly, my cat is finally starting to get better.
