Dr. Alec & the Decatur Animal Clinic team are the best you will ever hope to find.

My baby Layla, my pup, came back to me in her older age when I moved back home from college. Though I cherished the time we had, it was a tough period as she faced an increasing number of health complications. Dr. Alec & the entire rest of the Decatur Animal Clinic team were there for both of us every step of the way. Not only did they help me work through years of vetinary trauma and distrust, but they helped me give Layla the happiest, most comfortable life she could've had up until the end. There is no one, and I mean no one else, that I would ever trust with my pets. I can verify that the wait times may be long as they usually only have the one doctor if you need a room, but they are worth it. Please plan accordingly and be kind to the staff and give them your patience; they are good people and they are doing everything they can within their means.

Dr. Messamore was SO kind, knowledgeable, and patient with my cat. I feel like I got quality care in a situation where answers were needed. Wait time was extremely long but I think that is due to other drs being on vacation and impending bad weather!

Brought my grandma’s cat in after it seemed like the cat had a stroke. Done enough research to know how a cat acts when they have one. It was mild but she recovered shortly, we ended up taking her to this vet to make sure she was gonna be okay. They decided to only check her temp and let her walk around for a second and go “well, doesn’t seem like anything is wrong with your cat”. It was explained to them that she had been barely eating for at least a week and that she was hiding. It should have been obvious she had some kind of illness.but this vet didn’t care. After they said “nothing is wrong with her” they gave her pain medication and sent her on her way. 2 days later (which is today as I am writing this) my grandma’s cat is dead. Nothing wrong my ass! They should have done some kind of testing but chose not to and even chose not to do X rays Checking a cats temperature only and doing nothing else when you are told multiple things are wrong with your cat is absolutely ridiculous. Don’t bother going here, I would give 0 stars if I could. They only want your money.. if Cat’s Only wouldn’t have been booked up til this morning , I truly believe they would have detected what was wrong with her cat but unfortunately I got stuck with garbage Decatur Animal Clinic that wants to lie to your face and send you out the door.

I’m going to go ahead and file a complaint with the veterinarian board and I suggest you all do the same as well.

I came here a week ago to get my dog her shots, I had an hour to burn to get this done keep in mind. Waited in loby around 5 minutes. They called me to come back Then I just stood in the back room with my dog for 30 full minutes and not a soul came in there to give my dog her shots. I missed my other appointment and just walked out. I’m back here now again and STILL waiting. I’ll be sure to grab her records and NEVER come back here.

Let me add they seen my review and called me to the front desk, handed me my dogs records and told me they are refusing my service because of my honest review. That’s fine because all my family members, friends, and every single social media platform will see how they treat customers. I’m not even mad honestly I’d rather give me $ to another business. Bunch of rude Karen’s! Yall have a great day!

WARNING WORSE SERVICE EVER!!!! IF YOU LOVE YOUR PETS DO NOT TAKE THEM HERE!!!!!Front desk staff wasn't friendly the nurse she was okay now the vet came didn't even come near my dog he leaned against the counter telling me her diagnosis and that only way to treat her is surgery or she's gonna die the only thing she had done was got weighed no compassion at all even while I was in tears did they show any emotion no sorry for the bad news nothing was rushed out of the exam room worse service ever. I called later that afternoon to speak with the was told he was with a patient would have him return my call as soon as was done and still haven't received a call back that was yesterday the front desk was very unfriendly to to everyone that walked in with their pets when the walked in. Waited for ever only good thing about it was walk-insother than that nothing...?
