Hi, I like to recommend City Pet Hospital. They have helped my two dogs when my primary vet facility don’t take emergency appointments on regular working days. Although I like my regular vet facility they are too busy to take in emergency. The emergency centers are very expensive! City Pet Hospital took excellent care of my dogs and this is a big relief that they were able to see us without waiting so long! Please checkout and visit them!!

I recently got a puppy and found this hospital on here. The front desk was very welcoming. They gave me the option to watch them give my puppy her first set of shots. Which i thought was very comforting . They answered all my questions. 10/10 would recommended!! S/O to the technician who helped!!!

Buddy was well taken care of. I got an appointment same day. He was diagnosed and immediately received minor surgery. Everyone there was terrific, including the receptionist, the technician and the doctor. He was well taken care of. His instructions for care were both explained to me and given to me in a written report. He is now recovering and he received excellent care and follow up. I do not hesitate to give City Pet hospital my highest recommendation.

Best Vet experience! Everyone was so nice and helpful during our first visit. Baby (the cat) was nervous but not scared. Scheduled her next appointment as I left which was very helpful due to my schedule. Thank you City Pets Staff!

It has taken me almost a year to write this but I finally have the courage and emotional strength to do so.

On May 19th 2023, my wife was rushing around trying to get our dog care as he was having labored breathing and a weird wheezing like cough. At the time, she was closest to City Pet Hospital. My wife took our dog in and asked to be seen as it was urgent (you could visibly see our dog suffering) and she was turned away and was recommended a place in San Mateo to take him.

My wife had to drive 30-40 minutes in stop and go traffic in the afternoon with our dog suffering on her lap. I got there before her from work and started the paperwork because she was still stuck in traffic!!!! By the time she had gotten to her exit he stopped breathing. She pulled over immediately and started running with kiwi in her arms, but it was too late.

Our dog DIED because City Pet Hospital refused to see him and then recommended a hospital so far away.

I believe that if they had even taken the slightest moment to recognize his visible suffering and acted with urgency, Kiwi would still be alive. & I say this because we were told by the place we took him said had he got care sooner there would've been a small chance he could've been helped. Small I know, but still a chance.

I'm still not over it and neither is my wife. My poor wife is TRAUMATIZED by this experience so much so she got rid of the car that she was driving him in that day.

And don't get me wrong, I've worked at a pet hospital, I know that sometimes care isn't always available at that moment. But I do know how triage works. I'm appalled that labored breathing and wheezing cough and visible suffering was not of urgent care in their eyes.

I do not recommend this place at all. Simple as that.

In the 10 years I had my dog City Pet Hospital is by far the worst clinic I have ever encountered. Here’s an outline all of my encounters

1: Annual checkup. Got vaccines and health certificate. Vet made treatment recs based on findings. No problems.

2: Scheduled recommended chest x-ray and echo. Dropped dog off at 8. After a few hours I received a phone call from the clinic telling me there was a scheduling problem and they could only complete chest x-ray. They asked me to bring my dog in the next day for the chest echo

3: Chest echo completed, no problems

4: After the heart procedures, vet recommended heart meds. He told me that there was a prescription waiting for me to pick up. I told him I did not have time to pick up meds that same day but could the next day. Next day I went to pick up meds and the receptionist said they had already sold it to someone else since “I never came to pick it up”. Said she would “do me a favor” and check to see if they had any in stock. Luckily they did.

5: It was determined my dog could tolerate anesthesia so I scheduled other recommended procedures. My dog was supposed to get biopsies, mass removal, and a dental cleaning. I dropped my dog off at the clinic at 8:30. Approximately 30 minutes later, I received a phone call that their blood machine was broken and the vet would not move forward with the procedure without first testing my dog’s blood. Unfortunately, I was already across town and had multiple work meetings scheduled. I was not able to pick up my dog until the afternoon.

6: Dropped my dog off at 8:30 for the procedure. At approximately 11:00am the vet called to discuss options and we established a plan of care. I asked when the procedures would be completed and the vet said “this afternoon”. I asked if it would be around 3:00 or 4:00 and he replied that it would be much earlier since he was about to begin the procedures. At 4:00 that afternoon I had not received any communication. I went into the office around 4:15 and the staff informed me that they were just now beginning the procedures. My dog wasn’t finished until approximately 7:30 that evening. When I picked him up my dog’s fur totally crusted and he smelled so bad I had to drive with the windows open. Even though the poor thing had just been poked and prodded, I had to give him a bath when I got home.

7: I took my dog in to get some stitches removed. The day before, I had noticed that my dog was lethargic and not eating. At this appointment, I mentioned to the vet tech that I was concerned about my dog. She left to go speak to the vet and when she returned she said that the vet could provide some appetite stimulants. I declined and took my dog home.

The next day my dog was still lethargic and not eating. I scheduled an emergency appointment at my previous vet’s office. Without going into too much detail, he ended up being transferred to a hospital where he stayed the night. The next day I had run out of treatment options and, tragically, had to euthanize my dog. It’s still a mystery what happened to my dog. They know he had very low blood platelets and he appeared to have blood in his lungs. No one could determine the cause. Now I’m not necessarily saying that there is any causation. This could have very well been an unfortunate coincidence. But I can’t help but wonder... What if the vet who removed my dog’s stitches noticed that something was wrong? What if, when I mentioned that I was concerned, the vet did a quick examination (which I would have happily paid for)? What if the vet informed me that they were booked for the day but recommended I take him to get examined at another clinic? Perhaps my dog would be here with me now if I had received care for him 24 hours earlier.

We were lucky that there weren't many pets when we went so the wait wasn't too long. Our appointment was at 1:30 and we left at 1:47, so the wait was probably less than half an hour to be seen. My dog is very anxious and scared but the vets were very nice and dealt with him well. They even made his little boot fun with a logo!
