My Dad recently stayed here for 3+ weeks for PT/OT and speech therapy. He was recently paralyzed from the waist down and it was a slow process to get him active again. The team from nurses, doctors, case worker, and therapists were the best! They genuinely wanted to help my dad recover quickly. They answered all my questions and spent time explaining things to my Dad who was overcoming a loss of independence and his mobility. He made friends with everyone and was genuinely sad to leave them. By the time he left, he was up out of bed and spending the majority of the days in his wheelchair stronger than I had seen him in a long time. He looked forward to PT and OT everyday!

Dad wanted to also leave a message for the team:
“This message is to all the people at Central Texas rehab center all the people who helped me with the rehab with PT and OT. I’ll give you the highest rating I can give 20 stars if possible and to the nursing staff I thank you for your care. message to Jessica, I appreciate you as a person and as a worker. To the head of the nursing staff, Anna you are the best. I’m doing well at Sedona trace thank you all very much.”

…..On Thursday February 6, 2025 my niece went to pick up my sister. My sister had rehab at your facility for 10 days. Upon arriving, she found my sister needing personal female hygiene attention.
Her dinner had been eaten by someone else. When my niece inquired, staff did not seem to be helpful. (Staff) She appeared to shrug her shoulders as if “whatever, “not my problem”…,
I am certain a stay at your facility does not come cheap. Seriously, you people could not provide an exit meal for her. I am sure she had already paid for it..?…?
For my niece to have to come and provide personal hygiene for her Mom inquire about her dinner and get nonchalant behavior/responses is very sad….
Many caregivers still work and some full-time…
..to come to your facility ready to retrieve a love one and find them in a sad condition that she mentioned is unacceptable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was just discharged. We chose this hospital because Rocky came from there to share the details and a folder. We loved her! We talked about dogs. I am so happy with my experience. First, the doc at CTRH increased my meds for pain. I was in AGONY since my surgery. The doctor at CTRH said, "You are grossly under medicated." I was told that in rehab I wouldn't be given meds or need to beg- again, those online and a friend who came here. Never. NOT HERE because their philosophy is that you can't work in pain. I was comfortable for the first time since surgery. They also prescribed enough until I could see my doctor post-discharge. I am reading that people FELL getting out of bed. NOT THE HOSPITAL'S fault. You ARE NOT ALLOWED out of bed on your own until cleared. These reviewers were so clearly NOT SUPPOSED TO BE out of bed! They have joint physical therapy! I loved this! I was able to work with others and we LAUGHED. The PT and OT are outstanding. I have had a LOT of both due to my spine injury. They gave me exercises I can do at home and when I asked, they printed a bunch! There is A NURSING SHORTAGE. At night, I had floating nurses. They were as kind as the day nurses. Be patient if you go. They were the kindest nurses I'd ever met. My first day was awful because Seton didn't send my med list. I was due at 10:30 and told I was moving. I didn't transfer until after 12:15. My meds were not given until 9:00 at night! Massive fusion and no meds and they didn't transfer because they were "backlogged" at Satan. Seton. The CNA Shay stayed and consoled my crazy, crying self. The next morning, assigned elsewhere, she came BACK to see how I was and if I was still planning my escape. No. All good! Christina? Another nurse who was so kind. Since COVID their kitchen is not used for making meals. I did use it with Elle to practice not twisting and putting things away. The pool is not used because most have incisions that can't get wet or it's not safe. Food? The chef REALLY helped me get what I could eat. I have an autoimmune disease that was "on" and food was a problem. They took CARE to COME and help! I saw a doctor every morning. I know I have fusions in my future. I plan to return. I heard horror stories online in groups. My experience couldn't have been better. Just be patient as there IS a nursing SHORTAGE. If I rang a CNA would come, get my reason for calling, relay that, and the nurse arrived. Also, nurses WILL find you in PT to give you your meds. Mine did. I had an air mattress they give patients. A spine patient will not like this. It fills, circulates air, deflated and again. Horror. My spine was not happy. The pain? Off the charts. I left the bed UNATTENDED. I was told that was not ok. I told them the torture device bed was not OK. They got an order, removed it, I got back in. I am surprised they liked me after that first night. They understood pain and how awful it was. They LISTENED. Again, my thanks. I hope these are read and shared with staff. DO NOT GET OUT OF BED UNTIL CLEARED AND THERE WILL BE NO ISSUES FALLING. If the nurse was busy; the CNA came. You are not allowed to decline working with PT/OT. They will discharge you. You are there to work. They have only 50 beds. At times, there is a waiting list. You do hygiene in the morning. Sometimes this WAS part of the three hours a day and sometimes it was extra. Typically 1.5 hours in the am. Lunch. Then, 1.5 in the pm. I napped instead of lunch and my PT woke me to work. Sleeping is also not ok through therapy but, they allow you time to wake up. They know healing. I keep adding to my review expecting to get to the limit. My thanks to all who choose to work there. They made such a difference. My husband said I've never returned home stronger. So strong I declined home care. I do not need it. My thanks to Francis, Daniel, Christina, Shay, and so many more. So many. You guys are really so patient and compassionate. My thanks to the OT and PTs there are well. They are top-knotch!!!

I had one of the biggest medical issues and I was worried about being here, but I felt like I was in good hands the whole time I was in CTRH. I had doubts about how much progress I could make but I was stunned by the changes I made. Staff is super down to earth and professional.

Central Texas Rehab is absolutely the best. My husband has a traumatic brain injury from a car accident. Every single person that worked with us was amazing, from my first call with Kim and Kristina, each Dr, PT, OT, and ST, our case manager Linda, every nurse and tech. You can clearly see the passion and dedication that everyone has to help your loved ones recover. Definitely recommend 100%.

Excellent meals all the food was delicious with very wonderful food service staff .Tami and each one that brought in our tray very caring ensuring that the spouse was also taken care of. The facility and grounds were well maintained. Rhonda kept our room spotless. We had an incident with temperature in room being too cold but the issue was fixed within a few hours. The nurses were great especially Barbara such caring and patience. Thanks Derrick for his encouraging words when we needed them the most along with the male medical assistant. Most of all Dr. Anthony, Claire and Cassidy for your devotion to helping my husband heal and press forward. God Bless you all.

I recently spent a ten days at Central Texas Rehabilitation Hospital, and felt compelled to recognize the excellent care I received from their dedicated staff of professionals as I recovered from tracheostomy and facial reconstruction surgery.
Special shout outs to Daniel, my respiratory therapist who tirelessly prepared me for self care in the outside world, thank you brother!
Next are kudos to the OT and PT crew headed by my “princess of pain” Alexis, who insistently led me through a process of muscular rehab that produced confidence (and biceps!) to fight through the weakness and pain to achieve results I barely knew possible.
Lastly Christiana, my finest day care nurse, who’s loving compassion brightened each day, Thomas, my nutritionist and the fine meals he prepared for me, and Rhonda, who tirelessly cleaned my messy room day after day!
You all made such a positive impression that I will carry on through my continued rehabilitation in the outside world, many thanks again!

My husband was in this hospital for 16 days. I visited him every day. He went in barely able to speak due to complications from Covid and Parkinson's. The nurses that took care of him were all very attentive and compassionate. The rehab team was fantastic and encouraging. The food at this hospital was pretty great for hospital food! No complaints from any of the patients that I heard. The case manager was so very helpful. She arranged to get us a wheelchair the day before we left (Medicare). I can't say enough about the REHAB TEAM. They were able to get him up and walking (with a walker) further and further every day. Taught him how to get in and out of bed, on and off chairs, in and out of a car! Because of the care he got at Central Texas Rehabilitation Hospital, his confidence is much stronger now, and he is doing well at home.
