I've updated my review concerning this place. The last time I had been here, it had been over four years ago - and there is not going to be a next time after this one -
A few weeks ago, I placed an appointment in order to get a rescue neutered. I was working through a local non-profit agency based here in Carmi, and I went with their suggestion of scheduling an appointment here.
On the day of the appointment, I was contacted by the non-profit as they had been told by the clinic's office that I had apparently cancelled my appointment. Being as that was obviously confusing, I then called this place to clarify what had happened.
Upon doing so, I was told by the veterinarian that "her system" had kicked me out of my appointment due to my original review that I had left here four years ago. Like, there's a scheduling program that monitors appointments based on Google Maps reviews?
Yeah. Sure.
I was just blown away by the fact this was over a review to begin with. And I was honest about it, I said it was unprofessional. She yelled, insulted me, hung up. Whatever.
...
It's her business, her right to decide who comes in and who doesn't. But I'm not going to trust my animals with someone whose immaturity is so pronounced that they're acting like that because they're mad about a Google review.
If something as dumb as that effects her judgment and conduct like that, I don't need to know how it pans out when the more serious things happen. Life does not always guarantee second chances, and it could have been a good experience had she chosen so. People delete bad/negative reviews online all the time. Reviews which shouldn't dictate or effect a professional's decision to be a professional to even begin with.
(Review from four years ago below)
Dr. Haley is pleasant enough, but she is extremely hard to get ahold of. I took a rescue kitten to her where I found out he had a case of worms and coccidia. He was given medication for both.
We were not told we needed a follow-up appointment for him to be treated again. While he did get better, we started to see signs of his problems returning. His worm test was negative the second time but his coccidia levels were still apparent.
After spending more time treating him (which is not what I am complaining about - any vet would have TOLD you to do this) I am complaining about the way treatment with her is conducted and the fact that six weeks later the worms and coccidia returned.
You have to jump through loops to talk to the vet herself over the phone. You can't actually enter the facility itself (COVID cited as the reason why) and you deal with one of two assistants: one whom is rather nice, and another whom is unnecessarily abrasive. You're forced to wait outside in your car or on a bench for one of these two.
Does Dr. Haley not think that if one of her assistants contract COVID that she won't as well?
We had to go to another vet over this. We could not discuss his continuing problems with her and when we did take him to another vet we found out that not only did he still have coccidia (which I had expected) but his testing showed that he still had a strong case of parasites.
I'm upset over the fact that two visits did not yield any results to help the animal we rescued, and that when I called to talk further about this I was unable to reach Dr. Haley. I find this to be more than poor service; it's harmful and dangerous not only to the animal not to treat it correctly, but puts other animals that it may come into contact at risk as well.
Medicine is a hit and miss business but we were charged, misinformed, and the animal was not treated properly according to this second vet whom we had to seek in order to treat the problems this kitten had. While Dr. Haley is a nice woman, she needs to think hard on the issues I've outlined above if she wants to stay in practice.
