I used to bring my pets here without much problems as long as I went with everything they said. The moment I started questioning somethings, they said they couldn't see my pets anymore. Their ego must be so fragile because they can't stand being questioned or someone suggesting a solution. I love the new vet. She does basic exams with the owner present and gives several treatment options and allows me to pick which one I want.

Backn story: My dog had a none healing would/cyst on her back. I took her to California vet clinic, and they removed the cysts and sent it to pathology because they suspected cancer. It came back normal. The wound closed, but the cysts never went away.
A couple of years later, the cysts opened up again, and she was on antibiotics for over a month with no improvement. Then the fur started falling out, and she was super itchy. I took her back, and they suggested surgery to remove the cyst and send it to pathology. I told them we've already done that, and it was normal. They said they have no records of it. Not sure how they lost it. I declined the surgery, and they sent me home with some oatmeal shampoo/conditioner to sooth her skin. Didn't work at all. I decided to get a second opinion since it had been almost a year, and my dog was still suffering from skin issues. The new vet said it's common for German Shepherds to have skin allergies and started allergy injections. Surprisingly enough, the itch went away with days, the wound closed within several weeks, and her fur was back to normal within several months. I tried to get the California City Pet Clinic to give the injections, but they refused. They said they couldn't see my pets because I was dissatisfied with their care in the past. They are absolutely right. I like to have a provider that listens than one that pushes things on to you.

The female doctor at Cal City vet is afraid of large dogs. She was obviously nervous around my very, very ...overly friendly lab mix. She doesn't examine the dogs in the room with the owner...which I find odd. Every other vet I've been to keeps the pet in the exam room with the owner. She jerked my dogs leash and forced her to leave us in the room. She took my pet in their back room for awhile and then came back saying that my dog was uncooperative and she couldn't examine her. I asked her to examine my dog here in the room with us. She reluctantly agreed. My kid and I began loving on our dog to make sure she was happy and gave her a treat. My dog was calm and relaxed, but this vet barely leaned in with her stethoscope and when my dog slowly moved her head toward her this DOCTOR LITERALLY JUMPED BACK....2 FEET AWAY! She then said I'd have to drug my dog and bring her back again to do the basic exam. She also refused to give me a refill on my dogs meds, which she's been on for years with great results because this vet couldn't do the exam and she didn't prescribe the medication, our previous vet in Tehachapi prescribed it....so fine.

I asked for refund on the exam fee...since she literally did nothing at this visit, but they told me the $150 I just gave them was for the vet visit and the meds that I don't want and she's making me give my dog unnecessarily. So when I return, I'll have to pay the same fee again....for what, for her to once again shy away from my dog, do nothing, and charge me again!!! No thank you. I had to miss a whole day of work for this. I cant do this again, missing work, and paying twice....for nothing!

I went back to the Tehachapi vet. I had to wait a month for an appointment, and pay a little more for the visit/exam, but they ACTUALLY did the exam without medicating my dog and they renewed my prescription for a whole year so I don't have to come back again....and I didn't have to take 2 days off or pay twice... So in the long run I actually saved money and time at the Tehachapi vet clinic and I got better care for my dog.

Their office staff was very kind and helpful though...not their fault.

They lied to me. They charged me for an appointment that I made to have my pet's teeth examined in order to get a teeth cleaning estimate. I took her in and they didn't even weigh her. No exam. They said that because she's nine years old, they can't give me an estimate until I paid $344.00 for another exam. I asked her, "what did I pay for today?" She responds that it was for blood work. I asked her for the results of the blood work. She says, I can't tell you that until you pay me $344.00. Then, I told her to cancel my appointment with my other dog, and to refund the money they made me pre-pay as a deposit on the other appointment, and to cancel the appointment. She gave me a receipt that stated that she gave me the refund. I asked her , 'where's my money?" She said that she sent it to the bank. I called my bank, and explained what happened, and she said that there would be a pre-authorization on my account, IF they really refunded my money-and she said that there was no pre-authorizaion on my account.

I've been taking my pets here since I moved to Cal City last year. Last couple times I've gone it's been to check for possible UTI or to see why my dog was limping. Both times I was handed an astronomical bill that included services that easily weren't required. The staff recently left my male dog unattended and muzzled, where he proceeded to rip his dew claw off trying to remove the muzzle. We also waited hours to get a call to come pick him up without any update until we asked and they said they had to take an urgent appointment. The vet blamed my dog for the injury and said that his fear of them is a behavioral issue that requires training. I explained that he has trauma from being a meat farm rescue from overseas, but that he's never had an issue with any other vet before. They even suggested that I pay to have him sedated so they can trim his nails. I just took him to our local groomer instead who always says he does great with nail trims. Needless to say, we're heading to a different vet from now on. Run, don't walk away from this place!

The Dr's are compassionate, caring, and knowledgeable. The staff is just as caring. Have an emergency? They will make time to see your pet that day. I've taken many of our furbabies in to see these Dr's at the Cal City and Ridgecrest offices. ❤️

My mother Mary C. took her dog Sunny which is part chihuahua and jack russell terrier in to have an exam, bloodwork and a teeth cleaning done. The procedures and care that she received from the Dr. and his staff while she was there were exceptional. Thank you again. I would highly recommend California City Pet Clinic.

So happy to have found the doctor and staff of Cal City Pet Clinic. They fixed another doctor’s mistake and helped my dog to a full recovery! The level of care they provided my dog was amazing. Now all my pets have a new doctor and I couldn’t be happier!

I came here on an urgent basis only. Because they fit my fur child in I give three stars. Other than that my bill seemed astronomically high with no diagnosis after extensive testing and bloodwork. What blows my mind is with all the money they are making they are not equipped with the latest technology for diagnostic radiology imaging.
Also, all the clocks in the lobby and near the front desk were way off time or not working at all. It was very hard to understand the doctor because of her accent and had to try and decipher what she was trying to say. They do seem very greedy and take advantage of the major doctor shortage in surrounding areas as well as being the only veterinarians in Cal City.
