Barb Cole has been renamed the Miracle Worker. My husband flew all over the state of Alaska to try to get help for our dog, Bob Barker, who had dislocated his elbow and tore a ligament while on a fishing trip in Togiak. We interviewed over 15 vets in Anchorage. Every single one of them said to amputate, amputate, amputate. We knew in our hearts it could be saved. Barb was the ONLY ONE who believed she might be able to truly help us. She didn’t make guarantees, but said she would try her best. Our baby boy is currently 8 weeks out of surgery and running up and down the beach on all four legs. THANK YOU DR BARB FOR BEING OUR LIFESAVER. We will never be able to thank you enough.

Such a wonderful practice and the best I’ve ever had my fur babies seen at. All staff from front desk, technicians, to the doctors themselves are all so wonderful and truly care about their patients. Everyone is always outgoing and handles everything with pure care. The most outgoing, caring team of people I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. Thank you all for everything you did for me, and for the care you provided to my babies. I will always recommend Aurora. This is the best veterinary hospital in town, and the best I’ve taken my fur-babies to in any state.

The low start rating is only because of one doctor, Dr. Preston. I don't know how she's a veterinarian. Her answer to everything is surgery, completely unjustified. She doesn't know how to handle nervous dogs, she only escalates anxiety by muzzling.. she has no concept of healthy weight by appearance(when you can see a dogs ribs, the dog is not overweight). If you disagree with anything she says, she becomes rude & completely disrespectful, very passive agressive. She comes across as having a woke mentality, not conducive to anyone's wellbeing.
Otherwise- the rest of the doctors & staff are wonderful!

Been going to Fairbanks vets for almost 50 years - all excellent doctors - Aurora, Mt McKinley, Ballaine, Golden Heart - all empathetic, patient and honest - but have to say my last visit with Dr. Child’s at Aurora was a top 5 experience. Knowledgeable. Personable, Real-world ….took Banjo in for recent chronic respiratory problem and her analysis, diagnosis, and recommended treatment was: SPOT ON. No more coughing and hacking, Doc! We both thank you!!

I really liked this clinic at first but have come to find out it’s a bit of a shakedown. They charge an arm and a leg for services and require routine exams for things that do not require them (i.e. picking up flea and tick medication that you can easily just order online rather than supporting your local veterinary clinic). They do not honor records from other clinics and expect you to essentially use them exclusively. Do not expect to get basic needs for your animal (vaccinations or preventative medication that is OTC anyway) without paying an exorbitant fee for a full exam to go with it.

Most times I’ve spoken to people over the phone at the clinic, they do not seem to have a full grasp on what’s going on. There have been multiple times where I’ve been told one thing but then someone else calls, not knowing the information I’ve already provided, and has a different perspective that doesn’t align with the original staff member. Lastly, their client relations employee (Caitlin I believe) is rude and lacks appropriate communication skills for the job.

Very disappointed.
