I went here due to great reviews from a friend. Traveled 40 minutes to get here.

Unfortunately, I was DEVASTATED after visiting! I went here to look at their Betta fish, and was very disappointed. My local Pet Co has a better selection and better, healthier quality of their Betta fish than this place! I should’ve taken pictures of the Bettas. I should’ve seen if they would’ve surrendered one to me. It was so sad.

I was also devastated seeing their axolotl‘s. They’re actively dying. No Gills, extremely skinny, and on gravel. One has a lump on it, and another has a deformity at the end of its tail.
When I told a worker that was working with the fish “I see you have your axolotls on gravel, that can cause impaction” he replied “yeah I know. It’s happened before.”
How do you know you’re actively causing harm and still continuing to do it? How freaking sad.

They also have their hermit crabs in an open top enclosure so people can touch them. You’re not supposed to handle hermit crabs.

If I would’ve stuck around longer, I probably could’ve found more inadequate animal care. I was very disappointed & sad when I left.

My friend who recommended the store apologized saying it was great when she was there four years ago.

Management change? Probably. But DO BETTER!! Animals don’t deserve this.

Wanted to share my experience in light of what were originally fears about this place in my search for an axolotl.

I saw the pictures up on these reviews, but when I got to the store I saw that the unwell looking axolotl in the pictures was in fact not for sale at all.

I did see, however, the newest addition to my family. The video I shared shows the conditions he was living in when I bought him and the picture is of him, happy and healthy in his new tank.

I walked in there fully prepared to express outrage over the conditions that sickly looking axolotl was in, but found myself very pleasantly surprised.

The rep who bagged up Toby (and a few of the plants from his tank) for me was enthusiastic and considerate of the little guy, as was the young woman who rang us out. Overall great experience here!

Do not pay cash if there's a possibility of return. Bought a tank for my wife for Christmas but it turned out to be too large for what she was looking for. It just so happened that the store's credit card machines were down as well so cash was the only option. When we went to return it today, unopened, they only offered store credit because it was past the "3 week return window" which is not a return policy stated on the receipt nor anywhere on their website. It's nice to support smaller businesses, but these kind of drawbacks will push more and more people to the convenience and safety of big box or online retailers

Use to love the big selection of both fresh and salt water fish. The selection today was rather bland and had lots of empty tanks. Maybe they were waiting on shipments to come in, or had just finished cleaning a wall of them out. Idk, but there wasn’t many fish to choose from. Did have plenty of aquatic plants though. Did have some birds though, and the prices are wild on those.
