I would highly recommend this place! Dr. Ed was amazing and truly cares about the wellbeing and health of his clients. I had a horrible experience with a vet in Lake in the Hills, and Dr. Ed made me feel comfortable and like my dog was in good hands. Sebastian was also amazing. He was so kind and gentle with my pomeranian and even gave her some chicken to calm her nerves. I will def be back to this vet. Trustworthy!

We took out 18 plus pup there today because we were concerned about him limping.. I have to say that they were the most compassionate Vet and staff we have ever come in contact with . They were very honest about his care and at the same time made us feel comfortable with our choices. We left there feeling like we made the right choice taking our pup there . I brought my dog, Ella here for persistent vomiting, and diarrhea. It ended up being cancer. The surgery was performed by Dr. Mcginnis, and I had confidence in him, but shortly after getting my Ella back, and taking her home, she began seizing. We took her to an ER vet where they told me she was extremely dehydrated, and her organs were not functioning properly. They told me I needed to make a decision. In the midst of me losing my mind over having to decide to let her go or try to keep her alive, the doctor returned to let me know her stitches internally came undone, and she was septic. There was almost no chance of survival. This was notable for me because I expressed concern to Mcginnis about stitches popping because she vomited so often, and he said in a very cocky way “i trust my stitches”. This haunts me every single day.

They also said they’d update me throughout the day while she’s in surgery, which started at 10am, and I never heard a word. I then texted and got a call 2 minutes later from him telling me she had cancer. He also expressed over the phone as i’m sobbing that he punch biopsied the mass, and it was “gushing blood” and in person said something similar again, but was trying to joke with me and my family. I understand it being an awkward situation, but I was not feeling humorous learning my best friend was going to die.

I never expected her to go that same day, but I should have known better. I got cocky vibes several times, and to solidify my feeling, I was sent a very sweet card from all the staff expressing their sorrow for my loss, the only one who didn’t sign it was Mcginnis.

You may think this is just another “they want someone to blame” because i’m feeling grief, but it is not. I am at peace with the decision I ended up having to make, and she’s in a better place, but he knew she wasn’t gonna make it through the night. I could see it in his, and the vet techs faces. The vet tech was sweet, all the front desk staff were incredible. I loved everyone there but Mcginnis. I wish things could’ve been different, but I will not be returning.

The doctor and staff were absolutely wonderful. Despite having a bully breed, they loved every ounce of my boy. They were all very knowledgeable and I was given tips I can do at home to help with my pet's allergies, rather than being pushed to medication right off the bat. I appreciate you all!

If you read any review, read this one!!! I could write a 10 page essay on how wonderful Animal Hospital of Lake Villa is. I went to two different vets in the city and my standard for care for my baby boy was just not met. I came to Animal Hospital of Lake Villa because I grew up in the area and still have family in the area. The entire staff is friendly, attentive, and helpful with any and all questions I ever had. The doctors are knowledgeable, friendly, understanding, and wonderful listeners. I have never had an issue at this vet. They even have freshly cooked chicken breast for the animals which my puppy absolutely loves. They clearly love their job and love animals and treat each pet like their own. I CANNOT recommend them enough! Here’s a picture of my pup too.

This staff is amazing, every interaction has been great for the humans and animals. I really appreciate the appointment process, waiting on our cars until they're ready for us. It's nice to have a separate area for dogs than other smaller animals. Both doctors and nurses take their time to examine our pets. They provide plenty of time to ask any questions we have.

My experience with the staff at Lake Villa Animal Hospital was awesome. I was very worried about my little one having surgery but Matt and Destiny were my angels. Matt ensured I understood all that was about to happen before and after surgery. He gave me the run down of the do's and don't. Destiny kelped me posted while my baby was in surgery that helped keep me from worrying to much and she came to great me when I came to pick Benji up after surgery. Overall the entire Stiff was a pleasure to work with. Thank you to the entire staff of Lake Villa Animal Hospital ?

The Vet and staff spent lots of time with us answering questions and making us feel right at home. I so glad I got a second on from them regarding my pet’s situation and learned that no two vet are the same . The only negative thing is the lobby still closed where other vets have Thierry lobbies open . But I understand that these days safety is first of all else.
