I brought my 7-month old puppy to daycare at a Closer Bond about a month ago for an evaluation. When I brought her home that evening, I noticed that her back nails had been freshly cut very short, even though I never gave permission for her nails to be cut. The quick had been cut on every single one of her back nails, some severely. I took her to the vet the following day, and he confirmed that her quick was cut on every back nail and instructed me that she would not be able to go for walks without shoes or without walking on grass for ~1 month to allow her nails to grow back. I also had to watch for bleeding and signs of infection.

I called A Closer Bond and they twice denied that anyone on their team cut her nails. However, there is no other explanation to where or who cut her nails. Her nails were shorter when I picked her up than they were when I dropped her off at their facility. She was in a lot of pain for the 1st 2 weeks, and just this week after ~4 weeks of healing, she is finally able to resume the 2 walks a day that she took prior to her visit to A Closer Bond, although the walks are shorter. I'm hoping we can start to work toward the longer walks she was used to. The delay in her walks has also hurt the training we had been doing during her walks, and I am having to retrain her in many ways. She is now also exhibiting behavior of severe anxiety when I grind her front nails - something that was not an issue before her CB daycare visit. She has obvious signs of trauma. My puppy is a good and sweet dog, and the fact that someone hurt her is very upsetting to me. I do not recommend A Closer Bond.

I rescued my dog Mikey (a chihuahua mix) from a shelter a couple years ago after he was picked up as a stray. Mikey has proven to possess many typical characteristics of the breed. His hyper behavior in the house and while riding in the car were only 2 of the behaviors that A Closer Bond worked to correct while I left him for a 3-week residential training. It was very difficult to leave him! I was afraid when I went to pick him up after 3 weeks his personality would have been drained out of him. But, I was so relieved to be greeted by Mikey at pick up like we’d never been apart. His personality was the same but his annoying behaviors very notably improved. I want to praise Asia, the trainer assigned to help Mikey! She very clearly understands personalities and behaviors of dogs and seemed to be able to read me as well while observing my interactions with Mikey. Asia was very patient while working with me on how to elicit Mikey’s newly learned behaviors. Asia was excellent with her communication about Mikey while he was away. She regularly updated me on his progress and sent pictures to let me know he was alive and well. In general, all communication with Closer Bond was excellent! The staff at Closer Bond were very friendly as they greeted us at drop off, pick up and when we came for follow up sessions. This 5-star review is well earned!

I have boarded my dog here for years and have never had a problem. My dog just stayed for 10 nights and when we picked him up he was happy and they even trimmed his nails for free! Highly recommend.

The staff here is great! My dog loved her first day care experience and will be returning. The staff is very responsive and always willing to answer questions you may have about sign up or how your dog is doing while they are there.

If you’re looking for a real bond, I would recommend this place because they use James Bonds (which are far more effective than covalent, ionic, or hydrogen bonds)!

My dog looks forward to her weekly daycare day. She loves the staff and the friends she has made there. The staff is friendly and helpful. They do cute activities once a month such as art work or themed photos. They review and evaluate all dogs to ensure the safety of your pet. They also offer training at their other facility. I would highly recommend A Closer Bond.

Very sad about my experience here. New puppy owner and got daycare all lined up. I also signed up for Puppy in training classes which I was never even told was required for day care but I was ALL IN. I was told that daycare would be $45 a day after training. When I dropped my sweet boy off this morning was told it's now $70 a day. When I questioned it I was told I could take my Puppy home and not leave him, but I had to go to work. I asked if I could get pro rated amount refunded of I found something alternative after today and the response was "I'll refund you right now".
If you can't polity question mis information when you are leaving a beautiful new addition to your family with out basically being told told to leave........they obviously don't value our dogs the way we do. We are obviously just a $ sign. The woman today was so passive aggressive and awful. It's so sad to be treated this way. I also tried to contact John who I initially spoke to t9 try and clear any misunderstanding up. My email was ignored and when i called they couldnt transfer me to him. Save yourself the time. Many other options in Palatine area.

Update, four years later and I'm still a customer. My dogs love it here and they never have any hesitation when we drop them off.

Also, Zara was extremely helpful when we checked in our doggos today for a quick weekend getaway for all of us !
