I agree with the previous review if you love your animal, do not ever bring them here!
I did and and in the end within 30 hours my cat passing away I would’ve went to another hospital and taking my chances driving with him on my lap for 45 minutes.
I don’t feel like My cat dusty got the quality of care. I feel like it was all about cost when I dropped him off I had to sign a bill saying I would pay $4200. The clinical staff was doing better and gave me false. Hope the doctor never gave me the indication that he was gonna die. He told me we can try this. We can try that, but he never told me that his quality of life was just not there. So Of course I wanna give my cat a chance because I’ve had him since he was two old And he was 13 now. He was a fighter. He’s been through a lot of things.
And in the end within 30 hours He died. I was down there multiple times to And he just declined, but everyone kept telling me he was doing OK. When I was told he passed away, I let the staff know I was gonna be down there within an hour to my final goodbyes I waited and waited and waited with my kids and they brought him in. I was disgusted. It’s like they didn’t even care. They wrapped in multiple blankets and just tossed sideways and a cat bed. His ears were perked up. He looked horrifying and he smelled like, you think a family member was coming to see their animal and they had passed away laying down on a bed that you would just make them look presentable and peaceful come on .
I don’t feel like they cared one way or the other that’s all about about money And I never received a final bill. I called multiple times spoke to the nursing manager and the office manager and they were supposed to have the head person call me and no one to this day has ever called me back or sent me a final bill.
Miscommunication mistreating of my animal unprofessionalism and I could go on to so much more.

I called at 8:00pm on Monday 10/21 and was able to speak to someone right away. I was concerned about my cat having a urinary blockage which can be fatal but he was still urinating, but straining with blood. They did not pressure me to bring him in but I decided to anyways just to be safe. I arrived around 8:30 and was seen fairly quickly considering he was stable and not exactly emergent. The front desk staff was kind as well as the vet tech who took his vitals. After triage, we only had to wait a short time for him to be seen and was kept updated. Dr. Weinstein then talked to me about his condition and went over several options for care. She was so kind, compassionate, and patient. I opted to hospitalize Kuma there and am glad I did.Overall I was there for less than 2 hours. He stayed for under 48 hours but I was able to have some peace of mind knowing he was being well taken care of. I received regular updates from the day doctors on duty, who I unfortunately did not get to meet, Dr. Usechak and Dr.Jionfrido, who were both very kind as well. When I picked him up today the vet tech who discharged him was so friendly and thoroughly explained his medication to me. I am happy to report that Kuma is back at home and back to his regular self! Everyone I interacted with was extremely kind, patient, and understanding. They were not money grabbing and very transparent.I would recommend bringing your pet here.

If you love animals,if you love animals at all. AVOID THIS PLACE!

Unethical, manipulative, lying… So much of our experience here was inhumane. It’s all about money for VCA, NO compassion. I’m thankful to have had resources, because if not they would have killed my cat.
Time for a long story…
My husband brings our cat to VCA who clearly had a broken hind leg just by seeing it on 10/17/23. Our cat is supposedly x-rayed (keep reading, you’ll see why I said supposedly) and we’re told they tried to put the bone back into place but it wasn’t working that was on 10/17 our X-rays are from 10/18! They either lied OR they tried to reset an animals bone without even getting an xray! IT GETS WORSE!! They escalated the case to a surgical consult (WITHOUT XRAY!) and made us cough up 75% of a surgical estimate that was SUPPOSED to include Anesthesia $2600. Then they mentioned euthanasia for a broken bone on a young healthy, vaccinated, neutered well taken care of cat. We were told the next day he would go into surgery with payment, so we gave it. All of the next day goes by. Diego was never seen and they already had our $2600. He was kept on fluids, and opiates. Next day comes, Diego was looked at by the surgeon for all of a minute, no surgery or anesthesia like we were told. Btw, I never met this “surgeon” face to face. She should be grateful she didn’t meet me tbh and something tells me she doesn’t meet most family’s because she leaves animals for 48 hours and LIES about treatment! She made 3 recommendations after all of this. Two of which were over $6,000 estimates IN ADDITION to the already $2600 that had been spent for her to just LOOK at him. The last estimate was for $4500 amputation procedure! Again in ADDITION to the already $2600 we spent to keep Diego in the hospital while they did NOTHING!! They would’ve sucked 10K out of us. Amputations are not 10K vet bills just FYI. My cat came home paranoid, with golf ball sized eyes from drugs they had him on, and urine matted in his fur. My cat was doped up, left alone in a crate with 2 broken bones at the cost of $3K for 2 days by a “surgeon” who clearly did not care. She told me after throwing arbitrary figures “there’s no reason to keep him here so we can schedule his surgery for next week.” WHY did you just cause my family to rack up over $3000 in charges then?! All they did was crate, drug him, and lie. It was a slap in the face.

This place is horrible. They do NOT have compassion. People with compassion do not crate an animal, dope it up, and lie. They are liars, thieves, and neglectful. I will NEVER recommend VCA to anyone. They took advantage of your vulnerability. Our cat did have surgery with Pieper, a 24/7/365 reputable vet ER in CT who went above and beyond to care for him after the NEGLECT of VCA. Go to Pieper Memorial, Pieper will NOT put down healthy animals. We were lied to as to when VCA performed the x-rays. The date on the X-rays and the splint are proof. Our cat didn’t have a splint placed until his last day there. The X-rays were not done until his LAST day there! Understand they tried to reset a bone without seeing what the broken bone looked like! What kind of clinic does that?!

The x-ray imaging is terrible too. Not just because of the splint, but because his tail is in the shots! His tail ALSO had to be 3/4 amputated which VCA neglected to find even though he was there for days! You can see clearly his tail goes over his broken bone. They even tried to claim that Diego was anemic. Diego had labs repeated. Because VCA did labs after IV fluids were pumped, VCA obscured his labs! Do NOT trust this place! They don’t know how to care for animals. They don’t know what they’re doing! The horrible reviews are truth. My heart breaks for people who have lost their pets because of this unethical nightmare of a clinic. I will republish this truth every year in hopes that one less family goes through what we went through at the hands of VCA. Today Diego is a healthy 3 legged 1/4 tail fluffy boy, and it’s NOT because of VCA, or the incompetent liars in its clinic.

The emergency department needs to do a better job communicating during triage. After 5+ hours of waiting, I inquired if my pet would be seen and I was then told my pet’s condition was not an emergency and could wait to see my primary vet. If I had been informed this during triage it would have saved my pet from a stressed 5 hour wait.

I am really surprised by some of the poor reviews as we had a great second experience here this weekend with our older dog who was poorly. Our first experience here in 2021 was also great. Even though it was busy this weekend and our dog wasn’t in obvious distress, we were seen right away by a triage tech and were with the vet within 60 to 90 minutes of arriving. Options and care plan (and yes costs) were clearly explained so we knew all our choices which we appreciated. Emergency vet care is expensive so it’s good to be informed. We decided to admit our dog overnight and when I called to check on her the next morning we were given a detailed report by a vet tech followed soon thereafter by a call from the vet to discuss next steps. When our dog was discharged, the vet tech spent time with us to describe the after care plan, things to watch for and advice on following up with our regular vet. I’d also note that shortly after we arrived with our sick dog, a family brought in a dog that was to be euthanized and they treated that family with compassion, respect and privacy. Everyone we came into contact with was professional and seemed genuinely committed to looking after our dog. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this facility.
