I LOVE Rex's Place and more importantly my pups do too. I have been taking my dogs to Rex's for 8 years and I trust them completely. When I take my dogs to Rex's I know they are in good hands and everyone that works there takes great care of them. They have been great during the Pandemic and offer curbside pick-up. I can barely keep my dogs in the car when we pull up. If I roll the window down they are ready to jump out and run right in the door. I can't say enough about this place and I do not know what I would do without them.

I boarded my healthy 14 month old Newfoundland and my husky at Rex's Place in Evanston over the weekend. When I picked my dogs up they were both injured. My newfie was and continues to limp, barely able to walk, and was also returned to me covered in urine. Her white spots on her fur were discolored and smell of urine.
My husky has a big cut under his eye that wasn't there when I dropped him off and he is barely able to open his eye.
I have attempted to contact the owner repeatedly and she continues to ignore me. My dogs will see our vet today regarding these injuries.
I wanted you all to be informed of the injuries my dogs sustained after being boarded at Rex's Place so you can make an informed decision about using this facility. If I could add videos of her limping I would

UPDATE: After 3 days, the owner finally returned my calls. She had no resolution to this very obvious issue, and refused to show me the footage of the kennels. Her only solution was "just don't join us anymore".

We've had only one experience so far with Rex's Place, which came highly recommended by a friend. For your first visit they require a "temperament test". They took out 70lb un-neutered standard poodle puppy into the calm room to see how he'd do - we appreciated how they kept him in a calm place first to acclimate to being in a "daycare" setting. They contacted me early on that he was doing well - and sent me a video of him wandering around happily. They then invited him to stay the day. Their front door drop off/pick up went very smoothly and my pup returned home tired and happy. No sign of stress! Now that he's through his neuter surgery, we are looking forward to him going back for some positive socialization and exercise.

We love Rex’s place! George out 2.5 year old yellow lab loves coming there and gets very excited waiting to be greeted at the car door for the staff to pick him up. We have been sending him there for the last four months and have nothing but a great experience. He comes home tired and worn out from a fun day. The staff responds quickly and efficiently if i ever have a question about booking and more. We continue to send George and are grateful for the care Rex’s place provides us!

Rex’s Place has been so good with my baby boy Hobi. I love getting the photo updates while he’s at daycare plus, and he’s even bringing home some new tricks because of his time here! They always great us with a happy smile and Hobi comes home happy as well!

My dog Bama is LOVING Rex's Place. Bama is a 5-year-old 30-lb dog who thinks she's a really big dog and I know for a fact that she doesn't do well in daycares that put her in a small dog room.

The last place Bama went to for daycare did put her in the small dog room despite my request and warning, and she was kicked out for being aggressive.

I was really impressed by the intake form that Rex's Place has and was very honest in it about our past experience. I was concerned they wouldn't want to take Bama in but they didn't bat an eyelash. They have her in the big dog room and always tell me what a good dog she is. It is very clear that they treat each dog as an individual with their own personalities and quirks.

AND she comes home tired and happy. Photographic proof attached (she's the one in the middle).

My dog was injured at Rex's Place and I was not notified until I picked her up. No one knew what happened because there are too many dogs and not enough staff. Staff did, however, decide to "treat" my dog by applying liquid skin to her fur... I took her to the emergency vet who was surprised as well with the decisions the day care made without my knowledge or approval. Had I received a call, I would have understood the situation, appreciated the notice, and made the decision to take my dog to my vet. I would have also continued to be a member of Rex's Place. It was difficult to reach the owner and no compensation was offered.

They will say they treat all dogs as their own, that this was an unfortunate situation and I should have been called. This is all true, and I appreciate the sentiment, but I will not be going back nor recommend this day care. Since then, I have heard similar stories from others. (Also - never received a response regarding training classes and went elsewhere - love Unleashed Classes and Meg.)

Very nice staff but too overcrowded with dogs, I can't help but question if this is safe for the dogs or if they have enough staff for up to 100 dogs in a facility on any given day. Our boarding experience was not great, in the weeks we were gone we got 2 five second videos and when I picked my dog up he looked drugged and had sever conjunctivitis. I would not have been so shocked if I had received some type of communication while we were gone letting me know there was an issue. I was also overcharged and when I tried to reach out about this I was ignored.
