I wanted to go here for a long time, but the early morning program and location far from my house made it difficult. This is a hidden gem! The program opens at 9:00 but the actual education show is not until 10:00, so that’s helpful. The whole audience was entranced w/ the presentation! I highly recommend a visit and to financially aid this organization. They are trying to keep wild birds as wild and healthy as possible. The birds in the demonstration are captive due to being illegally hand raised. The raptures are an important part of our ecosystem.

This place has the best animal care practices as well as the best volunteers. Its so clear that they care about the entire process involved in saving these animals starting with education and conservation. They also have fun events every first Saturday of the month that are open to the public. Highly recommend you get to see the birds and talk to people and learn as well as do activities. Great for kids.

Rehab center is NOT open to the public though but they offer private tours.

We had Blackland Prairie Raptor Center out to provide a Live Raptor Program for a summer camp. The presenters were incredibly knowledgeable, adaptable, and personable with both the students and instructors. About half the students in our program were campers with intellectual/developmental disabilities, and the presenters were wonderful working with those students and being flexible with their needs. The program lasted about 45 minutes and involved three live birds from their rehabilitation center. BPRC also brought touch items (real raptor feathers, talons, etc.) for the students to engage in hands-on learning and questioning following the presentation portion. All in all, it was a wonderful educational experience, and we can't wait to have them back again in the future!

We have brought our second graders out to the BPRC for several years now in the fall. We do the field trip experience and the kids go on a guided hike, meet the raptors, and engage in a few other activities, such as raptor identification. We round it out with some fun games and journaling. The guides this year were amazing and we had an outstanding time. We are in love with Petunia the Black Vulture!

Incredible place run be very passionate and knowledgeable people. They have free programs on the first Saturday of each month. It's an hour show with most kinds of raptors. Beautiful birds. They also have photography days where they put their birds in natural settings and allow photographers to take pictures. Very impressive. Great place to take the kids. They also had a black land prairie naturalist tour after the raptor show. Very highly recommend.

We booked an information session with the education department. They arrived with LOTS of info, hands on, and owl pellets! The education staff ladies were so sweet and kind. They were able to modify the program to fit our specific needs. I hope to bring our family out to one of their program days at the facility. Thank you for bringing joy to our kids!

BPRC put on a wonderful program for our special needs adults group. They arrived early to set up. They had some old wings and talons that each person could feel. They educated everyone about what to do if you find a baby bird on the ground. Then they brought out three live birds that are native to Texas and told us about each one. I highly recommend getting BPRC to do a program for your group.
