I have had nothing but great experiences every time I go! I have been visiting since 2012 and my friends and family have all adopted cats from Tails! I have also been a foster for several years, so seeing the little kittens I bottle fed grow up and get adopted is always worth it ♥️

My wife and I couldn't be happier after 3 years, adopting our sweet little boy. He came home with my wife 2 months after he was born. Tails Humane Society was great with purchase and then there after with questions the wife had.

I highly recommend working with Tails, we are very happy with our adoption. He also came home with a little knitted blanket (which is pictured)

I dont even want to give them 1 star. My son and his girlfriend just got a kitten Thursday last week and had to take her to an emergency vet in Rockford on Saturday (2 days later) at 2am because she was vomiting and wouldn't eat. The vet found an ear infection and parasites. When she called to talk to this place, they are blaming her for her problems stating "she was fine when we had her" but did state that her foster mom didn't say she was sick. $300 later, we are taking her to our favorite vet in Ashton. I am very disappointed because she is so sick and miserable. We have 3 additional cats and they are fantastic. Shame on this shelter. The Rockford vet said they have been getting alot of complaints about them. So just wanted to give you a heads up so you can be aware of their care for animals if you choose to go there for your next fur baby. Sorry not sorry

I love my animals and provide them with a great home. I'm one of the hardest workers at Amazon providing many of you packages faster than anyone at my building. So I'm a hard worker overnight but unfortunately after today I'm going to have to look into a class action lawsuit but not for me for anyone who has previously adopted at Tails in Dekalb and been refused for whatever reason they decide. Especially after seeing how skinny and malnourished Lyric was and refusal to adopt the poor sick shaking cat and give him a better home then they did. I have never returned an animal there but that was their reason for refusal. If he is returned again I'm gonna use that as my evidence against Tails. I love my animals and Lyric was purring. So after today I'm going to look into get a lawyer and if I can't find one to help then I'm smart and determined enough to do it myself and I will just become a lawyer myself. So it might take some time to do it. But to me people are the problem not the poor unfortunately animal. Poor guy was the skinniest cat I've seen and didn't look like anyone was loving or truly taking care of him and he looks worst than the picture in person. This was the saddest 😢 I've ever felt for an animal and after seeing how he looked and their reason was bazaar to me seeing how I've never returned any animals so sense they feel their reason is a justified reason. Well I feel my reason is justifying too then and looking into a lawyer/CLASS ACTION SUIT because I don't want to see animals in the wrong hands which after every animal I've ever adopted there seems malnourished I'm starting to believe they aren't providing them too the right people who have good history. Instead of new people who are more likely to return them. 💔

My friends son and his girlfriend just got a kitten from them and it was very sick within 2 days of having her they had to take her to an emergency vet because she was not eating and she was vomiting and they found her having parasites and an ear infection. When she called this place they blamed everything on her stating that she was just fine when they had her. Well in 2 days, this is impossible! I think this is wrong this is not her fault and they should have checked for this before they adopted her out. With this being said I just wanted to give everybody a heads up and a warning if this is the place you choose to get your next fur baby. Beware they don't care after they get adopted from them. This is very sad because it's not the kitten's fault she is very sick and miserable they have been doing everything they can and have been spending lots of money since the adoption. The only way they will help her out is if she was to surrender her back why would she do that when they can't even take care of her I would think that we would just be giving her a death sentence giving her back to this Humane Society as they call themselves.

Incredible experience from start to finish. Staff was very warm and engaging, gave good follow up instructions and took great care of our cat. It's now 1 week after his neuter and is incision has healed up very well and he is doing awesome.. Thanks again, Tails, for such great service and affordable pricing!

I first came to Tails almost 10 years ago when I decided to adopt a dog and it was a great experience, the process was smooth, the staff was friendly but fast forward to today and unfortunately I can not say the same thing. I don’t know what happened to the place but the staff is very rude. I use to live 10 minutes away from Tails when I first adopted my dog but now I live an hour and a half away but because I had such a great experience the first time I decided it was worth the drive. I came in 3 weeks ago to see a dog and it was very busy. While I was waiting for someone on their staff to be free I decided to look at some puppies. I saw multiple people in front of me picking up the puppies so I reached for a puppy but then I had a staff member yell at me to put the puppy down that they were just spayed and neutered the previous day. I had my young child with me so of course I could not say what I wanted to say to the person but I wondered why was nothing said to the people before me that picked up the puppies and why were the puppies even out there if they were just spayed and neutered knowing people would try to pick them up and could risk injury to their incision, also 8 weeks is on the early side for spayed and neutering. I ended up leaving without seeing the dog I came there to see. I decided to go up there today after I noticed on their website the dog i was interested in was still available. Again it was busy so I looked around while I waited for a staff member to be free. My child wanted to look at the cats so we went into one of the cat rooms, soon after we had a staff member walk in to tell us that there was a ring worm exposure in that room and that we would have to leave the premises once we exited the room. There was a sign on the door but while watching my child I didn’t read it, who would to think you would have to read every sign in case of a ring worm exposure, why was that room even open to the public in the first place. So even though I was really looking forward to adopting a dog and so was my child, unfortunately I will not be returning here. After being yelled at and having myself and my child exposed to ring worm and being told to leave, I mean It’s hard to explain to a young child when they ask why can’t we see the dog and why were those people mean to us. Not that this place cares they’re making their money no matter what but hopefully this helps someone before they decide to adopt from this place. Also the pens were not that clean, I saw the puppies pens full of dog poop, one had dog poop on her back another one was even eating the dog poop. I saw a dog there in the corner of it’s pen just shaking, it’s really sad for the animals and the people that adopt from this place on how bad this place has gotten
