Posting this after switching to a different groomer, after being clients for years at Amy’s Wild Hairs & realizing how bad our experience really was.

We went here for years because they were so sweet and it’s hard to find a groomer with a lot of availability. We felt like we had no reason not to trust them—every time something went wrong, they had an explanation that seemed sincere, and we wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. But looking back now, I’m horrified that we kept bringing our dogs back for so long.

Our dog consistently came home with bleeding nails—on more than one paw—and sometimes with uncontrollable bleeding. Our other dog seemed to always come home with nicks on her back from clippers cutting her too short. When we brought this up, they’d say something like, “Oh no, they weren’t bleeding when they left here, that’s so weird,” or, “I don’t know what happened—maybe we were rushing? I’m so sorry.” They’d apologize and seem surprised, but this happened so many times that it clearly wasn’t a fluke.

The bigger issue was how disorganized they were. They’d often run hours behind, and every time we called to check if the dogs were ready at the time they said they’d be, no one would answer the phone. Eventually, we’d just show up, and sometimes they’d admit they hadn’t even started on our dog(s) yet, saying things like, “Oh, someone didn’t show up to work today,” or, “We got really busy.” But this would happen every single time, it was obvious they were just overbooking time slots and squeezing in as many dogs as humanly possible to maximize $$$. Our dogs would sit in a kennel for hours without being groomed—sometimes 5+ hours—without being let out to use the bathroom. The second we got them out the door, they’d pee and poop immediately, and we always felt SO bad.

Since switching to a new groomer a few months ago, our whole family has realized that neither of our dogs have ever come home bleeding, nicked, or in pain from the new groomer. They’re generally done on time, and we don’t have to worry about them not being able to go to the bathroom for hours. It’s been a complete eye-opener, and I feel terrible that we stayed at this place for so long.

The staff here was incredibly kind, and we stayed for years because of that. But now, I wouldn’t bring my dogs to them again. It took better service from another local groomer to realize how poor the experience here really is.

I have a seven-year-old rescue.
He is very high needs and extremely nervous.
I am so thankful for the love that candy and Amy give him.
He always runs to them when I bring him and he’s so happy when I pick him up.
I’ve been going to them for nearly 2 years and I cannot tell you how highly I recommend them.
The same for Out n About.
Alan, the owner is so sweet with my dog. He excitedly runs out of the car , so excited to play with his friends. For those of you who are unfamiliar, out n about and Amy’s are in the same location.

Our Golden Doodles are groomed here. They come home feeling like velvet and smelling so good. Schedule in well in advance to get the appointment you you desire.

Rude staff and a traveling, on call veterinarian that practices here by appointment only. I drove my mother a long ways to come here for her appointment, only to be greeted with otter confusion. After finally getting on the same page as us, the attendant on duty semi- rudely offered up the number of so - called veterinarian. When communication was finally established with this veterinarian, she matter of factually stated that "oh, no, the appointment was actually scheduled for a date a month in the future." While my mother was still confused I encouraged her to leave the establishment so that I could openly inquire further. It turns out the reason for that appointment was for a stool sample evaluation that was a proprietary requirement of this daycare and boarding facility. I could understand if they wanted to uphold the highest of standards among socializing various dogs together, however, the frequency of this stool evaluation and the cost of it just completely astounded me. I promptly informed my mother that she was getting taken here and that we should look for alternatives. When it comes to our pets, I totally understand wanting the best possible care and treatment for them. However, due to this fact, many veterinarians and related facilities take advantage of pet owners. Price gouging is just as rampant as it is in the healthcare/hospital industry. I encourage everybody to openly discuss services, costs, experience, etc. They do not hold a monopoly. Open transparency and free market are the only ways to counteract this nefarious practice.

Stay away. I have had nightmares on the the way my dog may have been treated while I left him here to be groomed. A week ago I brought my 12 year old standard poodle here for the first and last time. When I dropped him off the groomer got down on her knees touching Ozzy as I explained to her that he had mole on the inside of his leg that I had been treating and to please avoid that area. When I picked him up he came out choking like he had a choke collar on and the mole was broke open. I told her he had his ears clean by the vet, hair removal. His ears were plucked so close that the skin was burning red, I ask to shave his face close, they shaved it so close you could see his skin and it was burning red. His eyes were and are still oozing. He has a rash on his underside that needs treatment to make him comfortable. It is going to cost me a vet bill to have his ears and eyes treated. I hope this helps save another the nightmare I have experienced.
