I wanted to leave this review because I almost didn’t apply to adopt my two fur babies after reading some of the others. I can’t speak to any comments regarding race since I am white, but I do want to share my experience.

This shelter is clearly doing the best it can with the limited resources it has. Yes, it smells, and yes, some animals are sick-but that’s, unfortunately, the reality of an underfunded no-kill shelter that takes in animals others have given up on.

As for Gloria’s demeanor, it’s obvious she has seen too many heartbreaking situations. She’s constantly dealing with people trying to surrender pets they’ve had for years, and even approved adopters who later return their animals. If I were in her position, seeing that happen every day, I’d probably be a bit intense too.

All that to say-don’t let the negative reviews scare you away. I applied for my cats on a Saturday, heard back the next day, and was able to meet them right away. The more people who adopt from here, the more resources they’ll have to care for other animals in need!

Unfortunately this shelter is extremely badly run. I saw they had a cat I wanted to adopt online, and came during an adoption event. It was evident everyone who works and visits there tiptoes around Gloria's unkind attitude. I read the reviews before going, and decided I would tolerate it to rescue this cat FROM THIS RESCUE. The cat I adopted was malnourished and suffering. He was 5 lbs and could feel every bone down his spine. I didn't realize just how sick he was until I got home and he threw up and had diarrhea every few hours. Although Gloria says she cares about the pets, she was completely unaware of just how sick this cat was. The only reason he got any kind of medical treatment is because I had adopted him and it was part of the adoption procedure. I appreciate that she takes time to talk with people and explain the financial obligation of a senior cat, but the day I picked up my cat, she said "I can't believe I'm letting you adopt this cat". It was really uncalled for because I had done everything she asked up to that point. Honestly I think my cat would have died if he remained at this shelter.

My wife and I just adopted (2) kittens from here. We want to thank Gloria and Brian for all their help. They really care about all the animals at the shelter. They take in so many strays and people are always abandoning their animals and leaving them at the facility. We could not be any happier with our new family. They were in different cages and we were worried they wouldn’t get along and it only took 3 days and they are becoming good friends now. They are the best Christmas gifts we could ask for !!

So I first of all want to start my story with thinking Gloria for being such an amazing human being and everything she does for these animals that she rescues. I am a mom of A beautiful cat named Charlie and we’ve had them for about 10 years and he has had a chronic condition. It has really exhausted us financially we’re family, low income family, and we have taken out loans and CareCredit to care for our cat.. This week Charlie started to get sick again and at this point, I knew that it was extreme and that it was gonna cost us thousands of dollars I was trying to figure out What I was gonna do because we did not have the money. So one of the last thoughts in my brain was to surrender him to a shelter, a no kill shelter and I just found Miss Gloria and when I called her, I was very desperate and basically I didn’t know what to do and she stopped me and she said I can’t take your cat, but what’s going on? I explain to her how Charlie had not been able to for a couple of days and I think he was having an infection and how he has suffered from this in the past and we have exhausted our financial resources to help him not even an ER visit would be in our budget. She was like you need to do something for your cat. I will help you. We started making phone calls and thank God we were able to find an affordable clinic and Miss Gloria has offered to match whatever I can raise in my go fund me for my cat Charlie today is May 31, 2024. So far we have almost $1100 the procedure if he needs surgery is gonna be about $4000 and hopefully he doesn’t need the surgery and Gloria is working on her and her magic to help me out even though she doesn’t have to do that so I’m leaving this amazing review for her because she is a passionate person who cares about what she does and unfortunately sometimes we can’t save every animal but just the littlest bit counts so if you guys can donate to her shelter, anything food money time She is working that place and I know that shortstaffed and we are just very blessed to have an angel like Gloria
https://gofund.me/d953dbc9 I have included Charlie’s go find me and I will donate from that money back to the shelter. If there is any remaining money left over if you guys could share the link for the GoFundMe or donate, we would be so grateful.

This rescue is extremely unsafe for the animals that reside here. As someone who has worked in Vet Med for several years and worked in shelter medicine this place is a complete mess and disgrace upon many rescues and people who care for animals. I understand they are TRYING to get these animals to go to good homes and are trying to care for them... but this is facility is in no shape to be running how it is.

You walk in and instantly there is this dreadful smell - obviously from all the animals they have living in tight spaces and not sizable kennels (cages) for the dogs and cats that reside here. Not to mention, the whole building is just filled with so much useless junk. If a fire were to happen everyone in this facility and the animals would be running through an obstacle course of useless retail that could be so much more organized.

I think the lady who runs this place is the older women who sits at the front of the shop and sits on a couch? She seems to ordinate the adoptions that happen there. Some of the employees there wear pajamas and the volunteers have to carry/walk through maybe 2ft wide hallways while potential adopters walk by to view animals.

This place should honestly shut down. I don't know any shelter that would want to help this facility - if anything they need to reorganize this building and make it more livable. They have a group of cats on the left side living right behind a bunch of barking dogs with a wired fence (cage like) in between. That just causes stress to the kittens I had seen in there when I visited.

A health department supervisor should definitely come visit and see how awful the living conditions are and see how unsafe the environment is for this business.
