I was going to Dr Haas and then Dr Mariko took over. My 13 year old pit bull had an emergency yesterday and when I called, they said to bring him in right away . Luckily he was fine, but I am so grateful forthe last minute accommodation. Also, the prices are very reasonable, It is actually affordable and attainable pet vet care.( No price gouging here) or unnecessary tests. I was told my 2 pits needed to be sedated before a nail trim at another place. Here, Dr Mariko said no, that they could do it without sedation. And they did, quick and easy. My dogs love going there, they are treated so well.
And I feel confident bringing them in, that they will be well taken care of. It’s really a great piece of mind knowing you have a good place to take your pets to

The main reception is hateful and rude always! The staff is not much better. THEY ARE ALL ABOUT THE MONEY! Every visit is $300-$600. I wouldn't be surprise if they start charging a door fee to walk into the lobby. DO NOT RECOMMEND! ALWAYS TREATED BADLY while spending $1000's there.

Dr Mariko has come through in helping our fur family not once, not twice, but on three different occasions with last minute appts for urgent needs. I am so grateful for the office accommodating us in those times of need. I feel we were fairly charged each visit which is appreciated these days when other vets on island are outrageously overpriced, making it seem like the care is for money and not the pets.

It's intriguing that nearly all the negative feedback regarding this place centers on the poor treatment by the office staff. Personally, I've been walking my tiny dog along the street where this place is located for about four years now. During these walks, I've routinely stopped by to let my pup sniff around and to contribute some poop bags to the outdoor cubby.

However, last week, while I was doing just that, "Ariel" from the front desk approached me outside and accused me of loitering. It was quite baffling to me. I typically spend no more than 5 to 10 minutes at most, merely picking up waste that doesn't even belong to my dog and leaving bags for everyone to use.

What struck me even more was when Dr. Haas, who happened to be taking his dog out at the time, shrugged off any responsibility, claiming he had no authority in the matter. I reminded him that as a medical doctor, he should have some influence over the conduct in his workplace.

In essence, it's way more work to be unkind. It requires energy and carries a heavy burden. The behavior of those individuals didn't intimidate me; if anything, it speaks volumes about them rather than about me. Being kind costs nothing, after all. 🙂 I hope they read this and think for one second about how they treat people.

My advice- Take a breath and approach with an open heart. What have you got to lose?

Answer: Absolutely nothing.

Dr Mariko is a gem! We are so grateful to her. At a different vet on Kauai on the north shore, we were quoted a ridiculous amount of money to get some so called ‘urgent’ dental care done for our 6 year old cat, but when we went to Dr Mariko for a second opinion we are so glad we did, because not only did she say that none of that dental work was necessary, (also because we had started using an amazing product called ‘Plaque Off’ which gets rid of plaque by adding to their food) she also told us that she likes to sleep at night and there’s no way that she’s going to put our cat under, and take our money, if it’s not absolutely necessary. It’s a small island here and cudos to her for operating with such integrity and aloha, because she saved us thousands but will also receive the good aloha back to her, and her clinic, via lots of friends who we will highly recommend her to, who are also disgruntled about the high prices and lack of aloha of some of the other vet clinics on this island. Good on you Mariko and your team. So grateful!

I have full trust in all of the staff here. Anytime I need any form of vet care, I immediately call and get scheduled in a timely manner. All of the staff are so quick, courteous and knowledgeable. I’m thankful to have a reliable vet on the island.

I took in a rescue dog with a list for the doctor. He ignored the list and emerged saying she was in good shape. Which she clearly wasn't. So I had to take her to another vet who found the worms I had asked Haas to treat her for because she was obviously emaciated and dehydrated. The second vet also found an ear infection and some heart issues. The paperwork that he sent me home with didn't show her weight and had WRONG information. I can only surmise he is either high, depressed, or has lost his passion for his work. I was also charged a huge mark-up on medication. Basically he was useless, out of it, and gouged me.
